itunes can't connect to iphone 5, could not allocate resource.

First: When I tried to update to ios 7, it said I needed to update to itunes 11.1.

Now: That I have the new itunes installed, it says it can't connect to my iphone, could not allocate resource.

Tried: reseting the lockdown file like it says here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529

Nothing works 😐

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

I am/was having this same issue. SO ANNOYING. However... I solved it. Apparently... the version that iTunes "updates" to, is corrupt... so... I tried reinstalling. Follow these steps. See if it works for you.

1. Drop "iTunes" off of your dock

2. Empty your trash bin

3. Go to http://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/download/

4. Click download now.

5. Install.

6. Connect your device.

*It should now appear in the window for you and you should be able to sync.

Let me know how you make out!

Cheers.

I was signed in as an admin so that was not the problem... but I did figure it out!

Inside the Disk Utility: there is an option to repair disk permissions if you are having this kind of trouble with installing a file. I simply highlighted the HD and clicked "repair disk permissions" like it says on the magic window.

Voila! After it was done, itunes installed without problems and the iphone 5 updated. 🙂

Thanks for guiding me in the right direction! Hope this helps someone else.

I have this same thing--when I reinstall iTunes, it works, but only until I put the computer to sleep and/or reboot, and then the same old problem comes back. Deleted the lockdown folder stuff, no help. Repaired permissions, no help. Reset PRAM, no help. I have an iPhone 5, but had the same problem with my old iPhone 4. Have had this problem for a year and a half now. Have gone through half a dozen versions of iTunes upgrades, no help. The only thing that works is having a virtual Windows machine in Parallels with iTunes in there, except that's a horribly janky solution. Since when does Windows work better than Mac? Come on, Apple! Where's your support?!?

itunes can't connect to iphone 5, could not allocate resource.
