I discovered a solution that worked for me. I went into "Settings>Notification Center" and selected an app that was having a problem with push notifications. All I did was change the "ALERT STYLE" from "Banners" to "Alerts". I tried it on "Find My Friends", "Facebook", and "The Weather Channel", and I no longer get the message "Connect to iTunes to use push notifications". When I change the setting back to "Banners", the problem doesn't reappear.
Good luck...
This worked like a charm!!! it took no more than 10 minutes to get it back on track! Thanks a lot.
should i have intstall an update to my itunes to restore my iphine??
This definitely works and only takes a couple of minutes. There is no need for backing up or resetting your phone.
Go to Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings
:)
That will leave you with no known wireless networks, and having to sign in again when you try to connect to them ;)
For a minute, I thought I lost connection/info with/of my iPhone!
xD
But, this worked for me like a charm!
😀
Thanks a lot!
😉
Yes JorgeGtz you lose your wireless connections but for me it took seconds to put the password back in and reconnect to my wi-fi so was a small price to pay to be able to have push notifications on my apps that I use so much! :)
I tried Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings
It didn't work in the beginning, so I turn off my iphone and turn on again. Now it works perfectly!
Thank you so much :-)
Changing the Alert Style for each affected app worked for me. thankyou DShare
Thanks...reset network works for me...
Reset network worked for me, too.
BUT, it only worked after I connected to a WiFi network.
Right after reset, but before I connected to any WiFi network, (only on cellular), I still had the problem. Then I connected to a WiFi network, and after that, the problem was resolved.
My spouse also had the problem - but when he went into the Apple store to see them about it, his phone connected to that network (a new network for his phone) - and it was fixed!
There's something about connecting to a previously unknown (or perhaps forgotten) network that seemed to cure this problem.
Interesting test for the next person coming here: Don't reset your network, just forget the WiFi network you are connected to, then re-connect. Wonder if that is enough...
Very annoying indeed! I did not want to try the restore or reset network settings suggested in this tread, nor did changing the alert style fix the issue... I found a different approach that worked for me though: Go into settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch new data -> disable and then re-enable push here. I hope this workes for others as well!
I caved in and did a restore. It fixed the problem, and truth be told, doing the restore wasnt so bad. It's more the principle of it that nagged me, but I'm over it now.
Wow is this annoying. I downloaded the latest update and now I get this message non-stop with most apps. With some of my apps like, Words with Friends, it freezes my iphone so that I can't exit the app or use the app and have to power off and back on. Apple should have had a fix on this within 24 hours. I've already wasted almost 2 hours of my time dealing with this, and now it looks like I'm going to have to do a restore. Unacceptable!
Try to reset yr network setting and restart yr phone... it worked for me. good luck
