iOS 7 upgrade caused my Honda Stereo to be an unsupported device??

I'm a little late to the party, but I fixed this issue on iOS 9.1.4. I often got the "unsupported" message in my 2011 Honda Civic, and then couldn't get my phone connected at all after I replaced the fuse for my accessory port on my car.

I solved this by doing a hard reset of the radio. Which means I (carefully!) disconnected my car's battery for a few minutes (the radio is always receiving power) and then plugged it back in. Worked like a charm and haven't had an issue since. Bear in mind that after a hard reset, the radio in the car will ask you for the code. You can get your car's radio code from Honda with your car's serial number. Make sure you have it before disconnecting your battery!

The same issue is happening to my 2009 Honds Fit, I have the ios 11 version but every since the update it has allowed me to use my usb port for my stereo but not till today it’s been saying “unsupported resource” or something like that... please help.

I got rid of my 2009 Honda Civic, and I don’t have the issue with my Hyundai Elantra 2013. It’s Honda’s problem. Honda needs to update the stereo software to accommodate newer IPhone versions after 3-5 years, since the car was made. Honda should be offering this, if you’re paying for the warranty or under the free waranty.

I had this issue with my car last year. Most likely a compatibility lag with the update of the phone and your car. Check with honda to see if there are any updates to your system, might be a little bit before they release one. Mine took about about a month before one was available. Isn't technology great lol

I'm also having the same issue, I usually play my music through my spotify account now my Honda CR-Z plays a couple of tracks then disconnects with the error msg saying "unsupported device", I hope its sorted soon, cos I don't own a single CD.

I have an iphone 5 and a 2011 Honda CR-Z.

2009 Honda Civic EX-L and an iPhone 4 w/ iOS 7.

My iPhone Music Library, steaming radio, or Spotify will play for a while, then it stops & I see a flashing "unsupported" or "unsupported version" or "unsupported device" message. If I unplug the iPhone from the USB (either phone end or car end) it comes back briefly but always errors out after a few minutes. I had the same issue with iOS 6.whatever but not as often.

So, my question is, does it work or doesn't it? Seems like if it were unsupported or had something to do with the stream or bit rate of the music files, etc. it just wouldn't work. The fact that it works for a while then stops leads me to believe there's some other issue.

Also, this goes back earlier than iOS 7, as I'm seeing posts where people are trying to solve the same issue with iOS 6 and vehicles other than Hondas.

Regardless, it's frustrating as **** and has doomed me to the land of top 40 radio during my hour/hour & a half commute... HELP!!!

Same exact issue with my 2012 honda fit and my iphone. I had it with ios 6 as well, but now is worse

Same issue. Super frustrating... Seems like it's Apple's issue, since their software upgrade broke the functionality. Not very hopeful about a fix anytime soon though.

I have the same problem. Very frustrating. Spoke to Honda and they said that they are getting TONS of complaints. They have no fix in the work and are waiting for Apple to update and fix what they broke in IOs7.

Just updated to 7.0.3 today and then cleared all the phones and data from Hands Free Link in my 2012 Accord ExL V6. (Just got this car last week so there was no data stored that I'm aware of). My iPhone then recognized HFL and I was able pair it with Bluetooth. Works fine now

It happened to me also with my Hyundai. Now it only connects using Bluetooth and the sound quality is horrible. Not enough volume or bass anymore. It is very frustrating and Hyundai said they do not have any updates available and that this was an Apple problem.

2013 Honda Accord and I am in the same boat.... no music no podcasts, just top 40 junk since my iPhone5 was upgraded to IOS 7.0.3. I upgraded to IOS 7 and everything worked fine when connecting to the car via USB. It was the jump to 7.0.3 that broke the car link.

I have a 2011 Honda CR-Z and I am having the same problem. I use Spotify and I hear about 20 seconds of the song and then I get the "Unsupported" message. Don't know what to do? I'm tired of listening to radio stations. Any updates since your original post?
