No, really wasn't trying to be smart.  I was experiencing the issue and that's the only way I found to delete them

    Sorry... sensitive subject.

That's what everyone here is trying to do, but after a few seconds they pop back into the inbox.

I thought 7.0.4 had fixed the issue, but about 10 min ago, 10 voicemails that I deleted this morning just reappeared.

this is really getting out of hand.  Can't get anything done, voicemail constantly full of messages I have already listened to, returned a clients call and taken off my "list"/inbox.

I think I figured it out.  Individually begin deleting VM's which now creates a Deleted screen.  Swipe right to left any VM in this screen and Clear all comes to life.  Then Clear all

jackjumpster  That's not the issue we are frustrated about.  We get to that part and get the "Clear All" to appear.  What happens is AFTER you have cleared the Voicemails, they MAGICALLY (and very frustratingly) reappear back in the inbox.  There is no way to keep them from doing this.  It's a terrible bug and neither AT&T nor Apple seem to want to own it.  However, I've seen posts with this issue from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint customers, so seems like a visual vm / Apple issue to me.

This is what I just did.  One it turned blue, I held down on "Clear All" until I got a message asking me if I was sure I wanted to clear all.  I selected yes and it went away.  We will see what tomorrow brings...

I found a way it helped me.  I went to the visual voice mails. Edit then delete them all the voicemails I choose to delete then go into deleted messages and clear all deleted messages.  Some are still popping back then I just repeat the process.

What I am saying is that if Apple cannot have their bugs fix then don't put them to the public with rush publicized afraid of Samsungs.

    Just an opinionated thought

This trick worked great.  I'm finally able to delete old voicemails.  Thanks!

I may have gotten LUCKY.....and found a solution.

Delete up to three messages at a time.
Then go to your "Deleted Messages" and delete the 1 to 3 messages.

Repeat till you have gotten rid of all your unneeded messages.

This is a PAIN IN THE A--S way of doing things and frankly I'm really disappointed at Apple for not fessing up to this.

What happened to "STATE OF THE ART ENGINEERING" That they always claim????????

I wiped my iphone 5s and set it up completely blank except for icloud and Visual Voicemail.  This didn't help, but what I tried next seems to have worked:

This past Saturday, I tried something new.  I called AT&T and told them about the problem.  I asked if they would reset my entire Visual Voicemail feature.  At first the rep did not want to perform the reset.  He explained to me that it was not the cause of the issue, and that it would not be helpful.  I agreed with his theory, but was at my whit's end.  I could not live another day without having tried every possible solution. He pulled up this thread (hello AT&T reps) and pretended to have just "thought of" many of the possible solutions in this thread.  I called him out on this, he admitted he was reading this very thread. We laughed together.  I was not happy.  I asked him to please continue with the reset.

After the voicemail system reset, I manually deleted every voicemail from my phone.  Then I waited.  They didn't come back.  I then left a few test voicemails, they didnt' come back after deletion. It is now Monday night.  I've received about 15 voicemails since Saturday at midnight and for the first time since I upgraded to my 5S, I have not had a single voicemail re-appear.  Maybe this will help others- and hopefully my phone stays "strong".

iPhone 5S with this exact problem.

I followed the exact same process as Brucku, contacting AT&T (via Live Chat), sharing this thread, and asking them to reset my Visual Voicemail. They did so -- they thought I'd lose all my messages but they came back once I reestablished my voicemail -- but like Brucku I went ahead and deleted all.

So far (24 hrs), problem is fixed / deleted voicemails are not reappearing.

Thank you so much, PaulaDenver. Missed the obvious of restarting the phone. Doing that worked for me - the messages I had deleted by calling my mailbox finally deleted from the screen on my phone!

I posted some of the varied solutions I found here:

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5369936?start=17&tstart=0

To make it easier, this is the text I posted:

I've been reading and researching this the last several hours on various threads, and users have complaints from all carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-mobile) and even in some cases past issues with different iOS and iPhones... one thing is consistent - it is theiPhone. So let's move on.

To all, several suggestions are reported with varying success amongst users:

    A) Delete 1 voicemail. Scroll down to bottom, select Deleted Messages, Select Clear All for the 1 voicemail. Repeat. (basically delete then delete, one at a time. This one worked for me!)

A1) If the "Clear All" is greyed out at first, select then deselect the message, and "Clear All" should be blue and selectable.

    B) Call AT&T (or whoever your carrier is) and request them to "reset your visual voicemail" or a "voicemail system reset". Reference this help thread if you need to (see note by Brucku). Solved for 2 other people. The thread is here:

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5327914?start=30&tstart=0

    C) Call your own voicemail manually (call 1 or call your own #) (circa early 90s) and delete each message manually through the voice prompts (press 7 to delete, for AT&T at least). You may need to make sure to "listen to saved messages" as some are lurking in there. Reportedly solved for quite a few, but not working for many others.

    D) Something convoluted about deleting the Visual Voicemail message, then Clear All, then enter Airplane mode, restart the phone (home + power button), then turn off Airplane mode. Few said worked, but most said it didn't. (I tried several variations of this to no effect).

    E) Reset "Network Settings". (note: this will reset wifi passwords, but phone is fine just don't Reset All!) Reboot phone. Delete messages as you would. Worked for some.

    F) Drop iPhone in toilet. All Visual Voicemails should disappear. Works for all who are willing to part with phone.

Hope this is helpful. So far sol'n "A" is working for me, and this was affecting 2 phones in my household. Will update if it reverts and I have to do "F". Cheers!!
