Sep 24, 2013 5:46 AM in response to Fede23by dzseti,Slowly starting to look at Android phones as I face the next challenge with Apple:
- my GPS app doesn't work under ios 7
- App Store on iPhone shows update available
- but I can't download because I don't have wifi and the app is too big - thanks a million Apple!
- go to iTiunes to see if syncing would solve the problem
- what does iTunes say? "all apps are up-to-date"
What an *****ing mess Apple - get your act together. Thanks to ios 7 I have gone from a working iPhone 4S to a disaster - and Apple doesn't seem to care ...

Sep 24, 2013 6:33 AM in response to dzsetiby Ally86,Hi I have gone through the same thing. I called apple and they told me to buy a new phone, I said no thanks. So someone on this board suggested turning off your router well that's what I did. I ripped all the wires out waited a minute and plugged it back in, I made sure my wifi was completely off before I did this. My wifi is back on now, I'm weary for how long but it's nice to see some form of hope. I'm not sure if you tried this? If you haven't give it a shot might work. My next problem with IOS 7 is that my battery is an epic disaster and now my keyboard is really slow with turning on wifi. Not sure what's going on but I get the feeling the IOS 7 program was made to run only on the 5s...probably did this on purpose so we all have to buy new phones or suffer. I hope you figure it out.

Sep 24, 2013 11:29 AM in response to Fede23by mcourd,My workaround lasted all of about 10 mins after I posted. Still greyed out, luckily I'm still under warranty (just barely) but will be heading back to the apple store this week for my third 4s in a week. If they tell me it's my hardware again, and not the software issue it clearly is, I'm going to just go ahead and take that as a sign that I'm dealing with a less then honest company, and take my business elsewhere with my upgrade. I can narrow the issue down to the first time I clicked the wifi off in control center this time tho. It's clearly an issue with those controls. Wifi is greyed out, and BT doesn't even have a toggle switch anymore, just that circular, spinning icon, like something is loading. Anyone know if the wifi, and BT antenna are one and the same?

Sep 24, 2013 11:35 AM in response to Ally86by dzseti,Thanks for letting us know how Apple treat you. Rather like HP they seem more interested in shipping as much new product as possible rather than taking any pride in quality ... sad really ... they once had a better reputation ...
Still haven't solved my issues ... and so am waiting for Apple to do something about its iOS 7 ... and starting to look at Android phones for a brighter more reliable future!

Sep 24, 2013 11:39 AM in response to mcourdby dzseti,And the next disgruntled customer - quite rightly ...
You're very polite to say less than honest - I would be stronger here ...

Sep 24, 2013 11:56 AM in response to dzsetiby mcourd,I would be much more understanding if they would just admit it , and say "we are aware of the issue, and working on a fix", instead of "your phone is broken". Did all of our phones just happen to simultaneously break right after we upgraded? I find that a little hard to believe. When I do get my next phone, I'm not upgrading it to ios7 until they fix the known bugs.

Sep 24, 2013 12:58 PM in response to mcourdby scoho,@mcourd I agree with you 100%. My 4S is my first Apple product (although not my family's), and I have to admit that I am exceptionally disappointed with the whole attitude that pervades their approach to customers in these situations. It seems like the knee jerk reaction is always that it's either the customer's fault or something like a hardware problem, which is just too bad for you and you should be happy to buy another product to replace your faulty one. From the many messages on this topic, it would seem unusual -- as you noted -- that all of our phones suddenly failed simultaneously for no reason. The only commonality among us is that the failure occured when we updated to iOS7. Others have suggested to me that somehow the software update could accelerate a hardware failure in the making. That also seems unlikely, and even if true, what happened to the supposed incredible "quality" standards that are supposed to differentiate Apple in the markeplace? If new iterations of their software create hardware failures, something is very wrong. Even if you buy the hardware argument, something is also very wrong if an Apple phone can't even make it through the contract period of the phone carriers.

Sep 24, 2013 1:27 PM in response to scohoby FMG1018,I find it difficult to believe its a hardware issue when the Apple devices I own that do not have os7 run fine when the devices that do have ios 7 are off. Please fix os7 ASAP!

Sep 24, 2013 1:48 PM in response to pwincess_stephyby DblDpr,I suspect the connection process created by IOS 6 is different than the one created and used for IOS 7. Re-booting the router seems to remove traces of the IOS6 connection releasing any potential conflict.

Sep 24, 2013 1:49 PM in response to scohoby wabbitkilla,Having suffered the same problem with my previous 4s (that I had stolen) which was fixed a few days later by a further update to ios6 I have to say this is not a unique problem with Apple hardware and software quality. Two strikes and I'm off to pastures new, luckily this is my work phone and the company is understanding and I need full feature availability for my role so my replacement Android will be with me tomorrow.
I wasn't a fanboi in the first place, but I liked the quality and robustness of the iPhone, I'm afraid to say that I would not now recommend it or Apple to anyone.

Sep 24, 2013 1:53 PM in response to Fede23by vinignini,I took my 4S to the Apple store on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. It failed a diagnostic test so they wiped it and reinstalled iOS7 from their server as a new phone. When I got home I restored from iCloud and it's been great ever since. I think the upgrade download was corrupt and everytime I reinstalled at home I kept loading the bad version.
