Q: wifi doesn't work with IOS 7

I have the same issue.  Since upgrading to iOS7 my wifi has been disconnecting constantly.  My ipad is less than 4 months old and I only have the wifi version, so if wifi doesnt work, then its useless.

Also, our wireless router is brand new (less than 2 weeks old) so I know its not a problem with that.  Plus my laptop is working fine.

This is my first apple product (besides an original ipod nano) and now I know to be very careful before choosing to upgrade.  Next time I will do my reasearch to find out about potential issues first.  iOS7 is a big mess so far at least for me.

This worked for me:

1) Erase all content and settings: Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and settings

2) Restore from back-up prior to ios7 update

Another very upset consumer here!  I have tried all of the bug fixes that have been previously posted to no avail.  I upgraded my firmware for my router, and magically the next day I had internet for 1 whole day (on my ipad mini and 4S). I thought I'd found the answer to my connection issues.  Until yesterday, when I got home from work and sadly, found my issue had reared its ugly head again.  I get so frustrated reading how Apple thinks it's a hardware issue, because I think all of us here had wifi until the IOS 7.  Did all of their products break suddenly?  I am usually brand loyal, but if Apple doen't fix this, no more Apple products for me!

Same story...Cannot get it to connect to my wireless at home.  There goes the data plan...

I left my phone in airplane mode when I went to bed, then when I woke up and switched my airplane mode off , the wifi suddenly started to work, it picked up my wifi , it did stutter for around ten mins and since then it has been ok.

Weird.

Toggling Airplane Mode is like the FIRST step in troubleshooting your wi-fi.

I did toggle the airplane mode a few times , but it didn't make much difference.

I just left it in airplane mode for a few hours while I slept and on charge.

i tried almost every trick mentioned nothing seemed to work and i was sure it was a hardware problem. Try going to icloud in settings and turning off find my iphone and do a hard restart. After my phone restarted everything was working again both my wifi and bluetooth and find my iphone was on again on its own. Hope it helps

Honestly to anyone who reads this, install updates hardwire through Itunes whenever possible. At least do it for MAJOR updates. Most of the problems occurred OTA(including fellow employees at my work). I OTA updated to see the phone when I was at work, then came home to do a reset and thorough install. OTA patches and anything wireless isn't as reliable as hardwired.

Went to Apple store today with my 4S that had a grayed out wifi and no bluetooth (2 days after installing IOS 7).  Luckily, I still had 2 weeks left on my Apple Care agreement.  They gave me a new phone which is now working perfectly (and is under a new 90 day warranty--  so if the issue happens again, I am covered).  The Genius Bar tech said that if the chip that controls wifi and bluetooth was weak already, I might not have known it, but that a major update, with such a huge push of data, can send things over the edge.

Whatever the deal is, I have a new iPhone 4S.  It is working fine for now, and I can enjoy IOS 7.  Hard to be angry with that resolution.  You know, stuff happens...

that's great that youre covered; but I think it's b0ll0cks that everyone's iPhones seem to be dropping. Now mine is exhibiting MORE erratic behaviour- I get email but don't have wifi (according to the Settings-Wifi screen, I'm not connected) the phone just turns off. My 11 yr old daughter called me twice for a ride when the phone was down, and when I restarted it there was no 'missed message'.

This is much more that a "the WiFi chip is down..."!!

I'm taking screen shots of all the erratic errors/glitches. Of course, my iPhone 4s 16gb is NOT under warranty; AND was running just fine under IOS 6, thank you very much...

BTW- laxman; my update was run on my Mac Mini under the new iTunes 11......

Spooky- is your phone still working? Almost every 'fix' I've done has wound up not working for any long time. It's so random it CAN'T be a hardware issue....

I tried absolutely everything mentioned on this and other threads.  Yesterday, just feeling crazy I tried once more turning on the airplane mode,  turning off the control center, resetting the network, and turning on the notification to join networks.  The airplane mode on / off "switch" froze for a while afterward but then seemed to recover.  After that, I was asked if I wanted to join my office network, and it actually worked (for the first time).  When I went home it asked if I wanted to join my home network, and again it worked.  When I left and returned home, it automatically re-joined the network, and it did the same at my office today.  So -- fingers crossed -- it seems to be working as before the update (note:  I never had my wifi button grayed out and my bluetooth always worked). 

Still, there are some very strange issues that still occur.  For example, if I launch Safari, there are times it starts and then suddenly just returns to my main phone screen.  Other applications similarly shut down from time to time for now reason.  But, those instances thusfar are not all that frequent and are tolerable. 

There is no way these issues are hardware related -- too many different devices mentioned by others (4S, 5, iPads, etc.) and too coincidental occuring only after an update.  And, it's nonsense that the update could cause hardware failures in all those devices (or else Apple products are really just too precious to be relied on). 

Well apple is awful.. steve jobs must be rolling in his grave.. Apple corp one day should be laying next to him.

So called tech looks at my phone for maybe 5 mins.. I think he was more interesting in running my serial number then actually fixing my phone.

These people don't look like techs.. they look like teenagers who happen not to work at McDonalds.

So he runs some kind of diagnostic.. says wifi needs services.. I ask what does that mean..is it broke, he couldn't seem to answer just said it needs serving.

Then said well out of warranty 200 bucks for a new phone.

I said I don't want a new phone.. fix my current one.. Your upgrade did this.. Again he had no idea how to answer me. Although he said he had to break hearts all day.

Most ridicules experience in my life.. Genius bar my ***. Funny part customer right next to me had the same issue, guy like this is very rare.. I chimed in.. not that rare I having the same problem right next to u and so are hundreds of people online.

In the end he has escalating this to engineers or some sort who will look at my case and decide if they want to give me new phone.. I don't hold high hopes for this.

I am confused.. There nothing wrong with my phone.. The upgrade did this.. wouldn't be easier and cheaper for apple to fix the upgrade to just hand out new phones to everyone still under warranty.. Freaking insane.

One guy did mention that might be problem with my back up.. every time u back up you have same issue.. Not sure  if I can wipe the phone with out restoring and some how get my contacts and get my phone working again..
