Also experiencing the same issue, "unable to join" message appears for my home network. tried all the resets and suggestion thus far. Pretty disappointed as i'm also one the lucky few thats never had 4s issues until ios7 came. Hopefully someone at apple is reading these.
I had tried most of the suggestions too, other than resetting my wireless router. I had forgotten about that option in the mess of trying things in the phone settings, etc... I did the quick pull out power cord for 30 seconds, plug back in, and now I have wifi once again. Of course, it's only been about 6 hours since I did this, so we'll see if it's a lasting solution.
A company's response, such as Apple's lame, "it's a hardware problem", in the years prior to social media access, forums, & support communities, may have duped many a customer back in the day, but now, not so much!
C'mon, Apple, stand up & be the kind of company that stands behind your "smart" product, & even more so, your smart customers!

Sep 27, 2013 5:29 AM in response to dzsetiby csmith4105,Nice response! I've already unplugged my Apple TV, might sell it too. Apple's so keen on deleting posts, they'll likely delete this one too. Only one problem, they can't delete posts elsewhere like facebook.
For those looking to repair their 4S WiFi, theres some people on eBay stating they'll fix it for $40 with a two year warranty. I'm not going that route, im investing my time and resorces elsewhere. For all intents and purposes I've already jumped the Apple sinking boat. So has my family and friends, to include dumping Apple stock.
Apple will be like K-Mart or Packard Bell soon unless they change the road their on. Those who don't study history repeat it and Apple is apparently not aware of history's remedy for companies who leave their product holders out in the cold.
Who in their right mind wants to pay for apples mistakes?
See ya!

Sep 27, 2013 5:34 AM in response to Fede23by Alixocracy,I have the same problem with ipad new (3rd gen). It said "Unable to join the network". I tried reseting network adapted and router too. But it did not help. Even I opened the wifi (no password) and it still was unable to join. The problem starts just after upgrading to iOS 7. Is it possible that updating process (which takes about 6 houres for me) cased wifi adaptor hardware to fail???

Sep 27, 2013 6:02 AM in response to Fede23by mcourd,I went and had my phone replaced yet again last night (my 4s was under warranty when it faild, but only by a few days, luckily) my replacement failed in 3 hours, and just got over to the apple store to swap it out last night. updatesd to 7.0.2 in the store, and verified that it worked. it is currently still funtional. the apple employee that assisted me, told me he had three consecutive phones "brick the wifi", while assisting another customer with the same warranty issue. I'm wondering if they are inspecting serial numbers, to determine if a particual prodution line of that model is repetedly failing for whatever reason. maybe a bad anteana, or chip, or solder? who knows. as of now, I have wifi, and my phone is fully funtional once again. I feel for the people on this fourm that do not have warranty coverage, as you did indeed get a raw deal. I'm certainly going to do some research on my next phone purchase, and most likely it's not going to be the fruit company.

Sep 27, 2013 6:40 AM in response to Fede23by Prokhozhy,My 4S wifi expired 2 days after the update to iOS 7 (performed through iTunes 11 installed immediately prior to the update). Wifi had been "on" before the update. Then one fine sunny morning I tried to load a news app, and it didn't work, so I went to "Settings", and the wifi button was on, but the phone wouldn't connect to the network. I pressed the button to switch wifi off and then on, and THEN it went gray. None of the fixes suggested here worked. Strangely enough, I also lost my 3G connection (I am abroad, but the data roaming function is on), getting the "Couldn't activate cellular connection" message repeatedly, so I have no Internet, and the phone has become completely a "thing unto itself" ().
Having read 16 pages, I have a strong feeling that - with all "fixes" being totally random and pitiably short-lived - there is no "method in this madness". Here's another gem into the collection: my SIM card is PIN-protected; I switched the protection off (Settings - Phone - SIM PIN); when I went back up the menu to Settings I beheld a miracle - my wifi went up and running and showed the only wifi network in my vicinity, the one I had been successfully using before this debacle. Unfortunately, I could not join it, because when I typed in the password (I had done the Network Settings reset, and the password had been erased), I got "Couldn't joint the network. Dismiss". When I switched the phone off and on, the wifi button went back to gray. Ta-da! Subsequent monkeying with SIM PIN produced no results. Now with no 3G or wifi, I can't wait to get back home and see if I get any Internet at all. Apparently, the prospects are rather dim, and without Internet the iPhone is basically just a piece of junk, so-o-o-o...
If Apple comes up with a fix or replaces the phone, OK, if they don't or ask to be paid, well, Samsung, here I come - paying again for my favourite apps will probably be less painful financially than paying Apple again and again for their own mistakes.

Sep 27, 2013 6:49 AM in response to Fede23by Prokhozhy,A chaser: from what I understand, Apple won't let people roll back to iOS 1.6.3 which had worked fine - they are not "signing" the file for that version (whatever that means). Meanwhile THIS COULD BE THE FASTEST FIX. It could also prove (or disprove) that the problem is in the hardware - if the same 4S phones work fine again after the rollback, then it is DEFINITELY the update's fault. If Apple does not come up with a fix to iOS 7 or permit the rollback, then I am ready to believe that they either (1) are grossly incompetent, or (2) did this on purpose to coerce people to buy new phones (which is also kinda silly because from what I have read here new iPhones - both 4 and 5 - are not immune to this strange disease).

Sep 27, 2013 7:22 AM in response to Fede23by nevadan61,The 5 is NOT immune, nor is the iPad. Sadly, I can vouch for this

Sep 27, 2013 9:51 AM in response to Fede23by Bharris0721,Apple is missing in action, not one post in this 16 page mess of angry customers.
Guess the moral of the story for me is to never not have apple care for at least 1 year,, so I have a total of 2 years, so at that point if my phone breaks I can upgrade..
my phone 1 year 2 months old, cant upgrade till Jully 22 2014..
I am screwed,, If apple does not fix that, i have no choice but to pay 200 bucks of my hard earned money, no way I can deal with this till July, not to mention if I go over my data plan.
Apple got me bye the balls.
to think if I coulld upgrade I could get a 5s for 200 bucks.. 200 bucks for a 4s, that I paid 200 bucks for a little over a year ago.
This leaves a bad taste in my mouth....
