Genius from Apple store says the only option is to provide another phone for 200$.

Is that a way to fix a software problem ?

"Yeah let's milk out more money from our customers while we can" is more the feeling to me !

I'm not a tech or phone savvy person, but I'm having trouble connecting to my home wifi with my iPhone 4S since upgrading to the iOS7. I can connect to my work wifi just fine. And th battery runs out crazy fast now. I have been following this thread for a week now and have tried everything except the reset to factory settings and/or putting it in the freezer. I have 3 questions. 1. Is there ANYWAY AT ALL to uninstall ios7 and get the ios6 back? If so, how? 2. How do you find out when your warranty expires? Through Apple, or my cellular provider, Sprint, that I bough the phone from? And 3. If it is an App, has anyone figured out which one yet? Help!

Acesinica, It is still working fine, It has been a week. The Wifi was never grayed out, after installing ios 7 the wifi stopped working, could not detect any networks but I could turned the wifi switch on and off.

I think that depends on the router signal strength.. On my iPhone, i could play Solstice Arena, YouTube, etc...but on the iPad, it's impossible to maintain a continuous connection for more than a couple of minutes... I have never had the wifi button greyed out on neither devices, it just connects, works fast, then it disconnects only to reconnect in a few seconds.

The battery drains very fast, though...that I have noticed. The phone almost can't make it through the day.

Goodbye Apple, hello Htc. I've traded my iphone in. Apple are still saying its a hardware fault. My friend works for British Gas, their work phones are iPhones, they've all been told not to do the update because of this wifi issue.  I've just been into EE and car phone warehouse and the staff in both have said they have had lots of people in with the same greyed out wifi.

It' s ridiculous, iphone worked perfectly since i upgraded to IOS 7, apple phone support told me to spend 211€ for a new motherboard.

I think that only retards are not able to find a bug like this on IOS debugging period, it's ridiculous that apple support still say that it' s an hardware problem and they dont know nothing about issue on wifi on IOS7 and 4S.

Today Apple support told me it's my first time listening about this issue with greyed wifi...

    I'm really ****** off...

Exactly, the SAME problem!!! How we can do to force Apple take this issue??

    Thanks!

I think you lived under the impression that the guys at Apple support are some kind of geniuses... The're not little Steve Jobs' ...most of them are morons working on a minimum wage... They do not know (nor do they care) about any details of Apple products, they only follow the procedure: be polite to the customer, don't argue, say yes, and make him get off the line. If they receive the go ahead to change the devices, they'll do it, but not otherwise. And really, you don't need a new device with the same problem (since is in the software).

The reason I think they couldn't spot this problem is that they probably have in the test lab, very powerful Cisco access points, not crappy 50$ routers like we have at home.  And this IS related to the router's signal power (or type), because my iPad worked perfectly on Vienna Airport's hotspot. The signal was very strong never failed once in like 4 hours (and the whole time I played Solstice Arena which requires a constant connection to Zynga's server). The story was sadly different when I tryed to do the same at home, though...

Apple is lying to us all! I had an issue with the upgrade and had Apple support on the line who helped get 7.0 running. Once finished I noticed the wifi greyed out. We went through every trick in his book to fix this, at one point while I was waiting on hold for the tech I was able to downgrade back to 6.1.3 and "POOF", wifi was working perfectly again! (hardware issue my ***) So when the tech came back on he said "great, now that we know we have a clean install with everything working, lets upgrade to 7.0 and we should be fine."  Like an idiot I said "OK" and as soon as it was finished the wifi was greyed out again. I decided to play with it for a while to see if the wifi would come back and the next day Apple closed off the option to downgrade so now I am stuck with a phone that is broken because of their software, NOT a hardware issue. How can I be sure? I have been in India for the past few days so I made sure to put the phone in "Airplane Mode" so I wouldn't incur roaming charges from my carrier and guess what? The frickin wifi works now! I upgraded my apps, browsed the internet, sent emails, texts with iMessage and so on. Can I say hardware issue my *** again? So I switched off "Airplane Mode" just to test it and, yup, you guessed it, no wifi! Hmmmm, does that sound like a hardware problem to you?

If you ever have a hiccup with an iOS device Apple FORCES you to upgrade to the latest version. If you are out of warranty and lose wifi like everyone in this thread and thousands more they force you to pay for a new phone. This is ludicrous! They break your phone and then tell you to buy a new one!

Did you know Apple is already part of a class action settlement? Here is the skinny on that...

"The lawsuit claimed that Apple wrongfully denied warranty coverage by stating that iPhones and iPod touches had been damaged by liquid because a Liquid Contact Indicator ("LCI") (also known as a Liquid Submersion Indicator), which is visible through the headphone jack or through the dock connector port, had turned pink or red. Apple denies all allegations and is entering into this settlement to avoid burdensome and costly litigation. The settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing by Apple." ($53 Million)

I am approaching these same attorneys for this iOS7 issue in another class action suit. Any one who wishes to be part of this please contact me at L8tahoe at hotmail.com

    Be well,

    Mike

My ipad has been upgraded to ios7 and i have no issues on it but my iphone 5 has an issue similar to everyone in this discussion. The wifi gets disconnected every 2 minutes when i am at home but works well at office. Also, i am not able to backup to icloud. Infact, i got my iphone replaced by paying a dear amount since i had broken the phone. This new piece has these problems. I have tried everything possible that is updated on net but in vain.

Can some one suggest, if i should wait for an upgrade, or reset and restore my device, or visit apple for a replacement (which is time consuming as last time they took 20 days to replace the phone).

    Your advices would be appreciated.

it is outrageous that Apple are not doing anything about this; I use my phone for work but can't use it in the car now, can't use dictation and many other apps that are business based, emails with attachments take ages on 3G

there must be so many people with 4s phones that have this issue; I agree it seems like a software issue, even O2 said it's software

Apple told me to make an appointment at the store and pay around £150 for a new phone

I can imagine paying £150 and then they issue a software upgrade that fixes it . . . . that would be frustrating to say the least!

I think you have a different problem; you are dropping connection at home but your office wifi connects!

I can't get connection anywhere, can't see anynetworks anywhere, no bluetooth, the wifi settings just say choose a network and keep looking indefinately, and if I reset the network settings the wifi button goes grey and you cannot operate it, so I put itin the fridge for a while and the green button comes back but no wifi or bluetooth!

I think most 4s users have this problem or a vaiation of it?

Same issue. My iPhone does now more or less a job that $50 phones do! It suppose to be a business phone, but this changed now dramatically when it can not connect to wifi. Of course I tried all the resets with no positive result. When travelling abroad I'm paying now huge bills to my network provider, even when I limit myself. Time to change to a competitor phone my wife is using.

I really wonder how big of a problem this wifi ios 7 4s issue is. If it's big as many threads and Apple doesn't do anything about it then maybe we should just go android...

Neah, android is much worse, my money is on Windows/nokia combo.

Microsoft has enough experience in building solid operating systems and nokia has experience in building quality devices. Plus, Windows Phone is not Java based, and this means less bugs, better security, less need for hundreds of cores and high frequencies. ...also, you get free Microsoft Office.. :)

Too bad, there are not so many apps, but I can live without most.
