    kal309,

    Would you be able to repeat that freezer technique again, but this time after wifi is enabled, shut off everything that might use cellular data:

    * 3G data off

    * Siri off

    * iTunes match off

    * location updates all off

    * background app refresh all all

    * no apps running

    * all notifications turned off

    * find my iphone off

    etc,

    the strategy here is to see if the wifi can stay up when cellular data is off, so that it doesn't have to switch between cellular data and wifi, and have only wifi connected.

    Let's see if this configuration can stay up.

    Please take the case off for this test too, and if the wifi goes gray again, feel the back of the case where the wifi circuitry is. Does the back of the 4S feel hot?

    Several people have reported getting new 4S replacements and still getting the greyed out wifi button, so we will have to use the process of elimination, starting out from the barest possible state, then slowing turning features back on, in a attempt to find the true culprit.

    The chip is fried. If the WiFi do not work then any of your apps that has to do with WiFi, it will not work.

    If you are lucky enough and your device is still on the guarantee plan, then you might (might) get away with it..

    Still there are many posts with people that face the same problem even if they have already been given a NEW iphone!!

    So, NO i won't put it on the freezer, blow-dry it, sweet talk to it, use voodoo or change it's name, play around with on and offs and pray that somehow it will work!

    Lawsuits are underway, Apple people..

    Same here! I am really frustrating ! I own ipad4 3G 32gb and iPhone 5 iOS 7.

    Few days ago during an international fair where my wifi phone on ios7 begun to disconnect continuously the wifi.

    Continuing on hotel and after that when I moved to another hotel and finally home.

    I didn't had time to focus on this problem then I took a vacation.

    Now my IPHONE 5 bought 2 month ago (new) is continuously "UNABLE TO JOIN NETWORK".

    I made a BIG MISTAKE TO UPDATE THIS IO7. My i pad stuck on 6.1.2 and works fine.

    I already tried all the possibilities I found on Internet.

    Pls Help!

    This is similar to my predicament. Apple washed their hands saying it was a hardware issue and hadn't heard if the problem prior to me raising it......, said try O2 as they are my network provider said quote sale of goods act. O2 were a waste of space too.

    I started my own thread and it got removed, all I did was point out the facts

    No issue prior to ios7 update

    Fault due to no fault of my own

    iPhone running random software updates every few nights resulting in 1gb data used up un 9 days

    Known issue for many 4s users

    Apple person basically said I should have bought AppleCare and reminded me my phone was 75 days out of their warranty....whoopee doo!

    Why do other manufacturers provide longer warranties on handsets

    If Samsung products have ALWAYS been better than Apple products, why did you purchase an Apple product in the first place?

    They ( APPLE )say they Know the IOS 7 Issue's & wifi is one of them, but there playing it down & making out its not a big an issue as it really is..

    Is what I want to know is.. Since this is the APPLE Forum it self ..

    is When is a Member of APPLE going to Step-up & Face it's Customers ?

    All we get is Apple Staff hiding behind rules & Blanking there Public out.

    WE all think it's about time APPLE that you step up & Admit that your IOS 7 is **** & cauing all these issue, because you rushed it out (As an Insider put it) And now you have Bricked near half of the Planets iphones.

    But are we ever going to get any kind of admitance from them ? Noooo !! God Forbid..

    But i do hear they might be allowing affected users to downgrade back to a IOS 6 version..

    That's all well & fine APPLE.. But what about all the **** Wifi chips you have Burned out due to the update ?

    are you also going to take responsibility for them also ??

    I don't know.  Maybe when you stop over-exaggeratting...  Or when you use the proper feedbak channels.  This isn't a forum to contact Apple directly.  This is a user-to-user technical assistance forum.  You're standing in the wrong line, bub. You will NEVER get a response from Apple (other than an occassional specific answer to a specific technical questions) on this forum.

    Go use the feedback channel: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

    No point in feedback channel IMO, wonder how many actually get responded to. If they were to admit openly there was a problem they were trying to fix it would go a long way to restoring their reputation. Admit your mistakes and take it on the chin apple

    If you're not going to give Apple official feedback, then don't complain that you get no response.

    The percentage of incidents of iPhone wi-fi chips having this defect is exceptionally low, much lower than industry standards.  Now, unless you actually provide them feedback, that they can monitor and track and analyze, then you're spitting into the wind.

    I never said I hadn't given feedback, I have and guess what?......nada!  I think sub space just wants to let people know they are not alone and no matter how small the % of affected users there is! it's clear it's a problem! just takes a small batch of duds to cause a small ripple, all we want is some honesty. I was told in store that they hadn't heard of any wifi issues......also if apple keep removing people posts, how do you know how many phones are affected? Also this forum or whatever it is, is just one outlet for people to vent  their frustrations

    No, it is NOT.  Re-read the Terms of Service of this forum.  This forum is for technical assistance.  Not for customer service complaints.

    Downloaded ios7.0.3 still didn't fix the problem. The freezer is still the only thing that worked for me and it was only a temporary fix

    Enough games Apple, your customers are mostly computer savvy and We are well aware this is not a small problem! Bottom line is that IOS 7 overworks the iPhone 4S hardware and it heats up making the Wifi & Bluetooth unusable.  It's a BIG issue and its not fair to all the loyal Apple customers to pay out of pocket for something that is not OUR fault... :(
