Can I get my own icloud despite having a shared apple id ?

Hello. My hubby and I share the same apple id for i3,i4 (mine) and ipad mini. As a result the icloud is almost at it's limit. Therefore, I would like to set up my own icloud so that I can have my personal storage. How can I do this? I can't get my new ios 7 update because of lack of space.

Much Thanks

You will need your own AppleID, but just get a free email address (gmail, hotmail, MS Live, aol, ...) and create a new AppleID for yourself.

Then, delete the iCloud account on your iPad, and log in with your new AppleID to create your own iCloud account. You can also create your own iMessage account with the new AppleID if you do not want to share messaging accounts.

Keep using the original AppleID for the iTunes and App store purchased content so you both can share that.

P.S. if the iOS 7 update is complaining about lack of space, that has nothing at all to do with iCloud. That means your device does not have enough space and you need to delete things on there to free up storage. You can also update via iTunes on your computer, which will require less space available on the iPad itself (since the iOS updater gets downloaded to your computer and run from there).

Start by saving any photo stream photos on your device that you want to keep to your camera roll (open your My Photo Stream alburm, tap Edit, tap tha photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Keep on My iPhone [iPad] when prompted. (This only deletes the account from your device, not from iCloud. Your husband's devices will not be effected by this.) Then in Settings>iCloud sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload you data to the new account.

Once you have separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com to delete the other person's data from your account. Your husband can also go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage on his device to delete the backup of your device(s) from his account to free up the storage.
