Facetime stuck at "connecting" or immediately drops after (iPhone 4)

Hello all,

I have just updated to iOS 7 in hopes of fixing my facetime problem, however, no luck found. My facetime was working about a week ago, I was on the phone with someone, then the call just dropped. Tried to call again but the facetime interface would just show the "connecting..." part then never get through again.

I thought it was my school's wifi, but I tried my wifi at home and it still did not work. I also tried resetting network settings and restoring an older iphone backup before updating to iOS 7, and it still does not work.

I have tried with multiple iPhone users, mac users, and even a person sitting next to me in the same room using the same wifi network.

Any help or opinions would be much appreciated in solving this issue!

I have finally manged to sort this frustrating iphone 4 issue regarding NOT being able to Facetime.

First VERY VERY Important ... backup the complete phone on icloud or itunes. (I did not do this and lost my NOTES. Luckily my phone contact were on my Sim Card)

Step 1 . Go to settings and Reset complete phone to factory default (Settings - General - Reset All Settings (Enter code if requested) - Erase all Content and settings.

Step 2 . Once reset you will have a factor default iphone (In my case it had ios7 on boot up)

Step 3 . Setup as new phone in itunes i.e choose english then find my phone - icloud etc etc etc

Step 4 . Test out facetime (DO NOT restore Apps or Music at this stage)

Step 5 . Once facetime worked I restored my Music ,videos etc from itunes.

Really happy that finally it all works..

Trust this helps all the frustrated people out there who can not facetime on iphone 4

[rant]Apple have yet to figure how to make apps for their own system work.[/rant] The good old "if it doesnt work, reset everything" seem to solve all Apples issues.

But the other solution that also seem to solve all Apple's issues is to simply not use apple software in the first place. Try Skype for iOS, or any other video chat app for that sake. And you don't have to reset your phone every 6 months.
