    Not a problem with our ipad2 hardware. Ipad2 doesn't get blur http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/09/dont-let-me-down-apple-ios-7-on-the-ipad-2/

Your statement is simply wrong. Your source is useless, because it was released, before the 3rd gen iPad was on the market, what everyone could have figured out on the headline already (Why the New iPad 3 MAY Be Slower than iPad 2).

The iPad 3 is definitely NOT slower than the iPad 2, they have around the same benchmarks, the iPad 3 is a little bit faster, but nothing noteworthy on everyday use, but especially the graphics chip makes the iPad 3 in games with 1024 x 768 a lot faster on 3D-Games, which is compensated due to the retina-display.

Next time, check the date of your sources.

The ios 7 release documents suggest only the iphone 4 to not  get the blur effects..!!, then why is it that the ipad 3 doesn't have it..!!! Is it a bug likely to be fixed with the updates???

  • AppleZombie Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

There is no reason the iPad 2 shouldn't have all the functionality of the iPad mini... Including air drop, blur effects, and Siri... And absolutely iPad 3 should have air drop and blur effects--- and even if you want to believe that there simply was no way for the engineers at Apple to allow Bluetooth powered air drop on iPad 3 and iPad 2, the blur effects should be there.

I paid $1000 for the first iPad, then $1000 again for iPad 3, but now knowing that they intentionally cripple their products after just two years, I will never again spend so much on an iPad. It's just not a good buy knowing it will be forcefully made obsolete regardless of its specs.

I thought Apple was above this sort of thing.

  • Klik17 Level 1 Level 1 (20 points)

Your iPad is "obsolete" because you don't have the blurry effect???

    Come on...

You should have bought the iPad 2 instead, mine is far from obsolete (still under ios6)

    NB :

The reason why ipad2 didn't get the blur thing is because the 3 couldn't handle it properly.

  • AppleZombie Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I challenge the notion that iPad 3 couldn't handle the blur effects. It seemed to handle it just fine during the early betas. And you could always disable it using the High Contrast option.

And yes, I do maintain that the fact that an iPad 3 doesn't get Air Drop, or Blur Effects, and the IPad 2 doesn't get Siri even though the Mini gets all of these, they are intentionally crippling older devices even though these devices can handle it. It's not an honorable move.

Like I said, I buy the top level 64GB 3G/4G/LTE, but now, it just doesn't make sense to invest so much money in a device that is guaranteed to be intentionally crippled forced obsolete within two years.

  • Klik17 Level 1 Level 1 (20 points)

Everybody knows that newer devices have special features which are not available on older ones.

You didn't have Air drop when you bought your top level ipad...and you liked it as it was.

I've read a lot of dev. saying that the blur effect was a source of problem on ipad 3 (not ipad 2).

And for the "obsolete" thing (which is ridiculous), remember that ipad2 came out in 2011,is still on sale and will continue to be the "first price" Ipad (as reported by the keynote today).

Yes,i do maintain that my 2 years old ipad2 is far from obsolete..and i don't even have ios7!

  • AppleZombie Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

The iPad 2 and 3 are great devices. But they are being crippled. The full iOS 7 experience could have been had on all of them, but Apple has chosen to break the legs of fully capable horses, just to sell a newer horse.

Ask yourself why does the iPad Mini have the FULL iOS 7 experience, and iPad 2 & 3 do not. iPad mini was the only iPad mini on the market and so they had reason to keep it current. However, iPad 2 & 3 while completely capable of the entire iOS 7 experience, are intentionally being phased out.

The fact that Apple is doing this, is reason for me to change my buying habits. It's just not a good buy to spend $1000 on something that will be intentionally crippled.

It means, it doesn't matter the specs, within 2 years or less Apple will find a way to make your device feel less capable than it is.

    It's bad for customers.

  • AppleZombie Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I still hope that Apple might fix these issues for iPad 2 and 3 with iOS 7.1... Especially since they are still selling the iPad 2 as a new device. Seems weird to sell it for $399 when it doesn't have Siri, Air Drop, or the full graphical iOS 7 experience, and yet the iPad mini will sell for $299, have all the same hardware, and has all of these modern features.

I hope they fix this. I really want to see Apple fix this for iPad 2 and 3 and I know I'm not the only one.

  • JiLiszt Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

They're forced to fix the graphical issue. It's just about changing a few lines of code because the iPad2'sGPU and the iPad mini'one are the same !

new here in apple discussions. ok my question or debate you can say is that i have an ipad 3 rd gen wifi model. it was smooth on ios 6, tried ios 7 beta 2 when it was relased it was good, have all the frost, glossy effetcs in control centre, notification centre, multitasking, folders. but when the final verison came it was flat, all the glossy frost effects were gone though they are still present in multitasking, folder and spotlight but not in control centre and notification centre. i wonder why iphone 4s have all these effects where my ipad have a5x chip with 1 gb ram as compared to iphone 4s a5 chip with 512mb ram. is this a bug or apple wants us to buy a new ipad ?

Same probleme (ipad3 ) i was looking for days to find out how to activate the blur effect but isn't avaible :(

  • Zatixo Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

It's just Apple that say: "Hey you, you must buy a new iPad. You don't want??? Well, **** you and buy something else".

Simple question, are these effect supported on the new ipad 2? If it is not the case, then they are selling non supported products. If it is the case.... well, I will keep these words for myself.

They are beginning to support their product, fix bug as slow (or ignoring them) as the chinese copy maker are supporting their. Their new politic:

"You have the same CPU and GPU as the iPad mini. Hoo, too bad, the problem it that you have to buy a new ipad."

"You have a bug? Hoooo, that's soooo cute. We already know this bug. But you have to wait until iOS 8 or iOS 9 !!!".
