Do the media player controls work from the lock screen for you? I have the same issue with both lock screen and control center controls.

Play, track forward, and track backward are not working.

Volume and scrubbing (drag to a specific time in the song) are working fine with the exception of volume on the lock screen being very touchy. if i don't touch it at just the right point, it slides the whole screen left or right.

I have exactly the same problem and I think it occurs after you play a video on quick time player (maybe on youtube or on any other website). If you try using play-forward-backward buttons on control center they just wont work on my iphone 4s device. Volume control still works fine though. Another issue about the music player is that in ios 6 you were successfully able to listen your music even if the device is locked (you just have to press the home button device and the music player would appear under the clock). Unfortunately, if you disable to reach the control center when the device is locked, there seems to be no other way to reach your music player on locked screen and that is just rubbish...

I don't want to send anyone off in the wrong direction, but EvanR I think you might be on to something here and I'll tell you why: I just bought a 5s last week running iOS 7.0 and when I first paired it up with my 2012 Infiniti G37 it worked fine (previously I had a 4s running iOS 6 with no problems pairing or streaming). Then today I noticed that the steering wheel controls stopped working and also that the music controls on control center were not functioning (except volume was ok). I rebooted the phone (no deleting device or other changes to the car) and it started working again (so far).

But here's the thing: a few days ago while I was running I noticed that the remote control on my earphones stopped working. Same exact issue: no, pause, no ff/reverse, nothing. I rebooted the phone then and the remote control on the earplugs started working again.

I didn't think of the possible connection until I started reading this thread. It seems like they might be related and obviously would be a phone issue rather than a vehicle issue.

Same problem here and it seems to have just started in the last few days. I use bluetooth reguarly and this morning in the car, it would not play and now the controls on the lock screen do not work. Even logging in and going to the music player would not work one time.

Rebooted and everything worked for a short period and now back to not working again from the lock screen.

Based on the dates in this thread, this issue has suddenly happened to multiple people and I know I have not installed any updates.

Curses! It's back.

After rebooting every few days for a couple weeks, I decided to do a restore of iOS. It took about an hour, not couting the apps that I had to setup from scratch, but I thought it was worth it.

I thought that finally fixed it, but today the problme came back, three days after full OS re-install.

Samy symptoms as everyone else. Bluetooth in car won't resume playing, steering wheel controls stop working, and play/pause/skip on the lock screen light up but do not function. Hared reset ot reset network setting brings everything back. (One difference I have noticed is that my cabled earbud controls always work, even when everything else stops, some people have commented that those stop working for them)

The thing that is most puzzling is that I know people with the same phone that never have this problem. The only explanation I can find is that they tend to be people who don't use the music player very much, or never use bluetooth at all. It's almost as if the more you use it, the more frequently it will freeze.

I opened up a support case 10 days ago. I'm going to escalate it. Everyone who is having these problems should do the same.
