How to make the dock (buttom row) in IOS 7 transparent?

Hi,

I just installed IOS 7. I guess it has a few new functions, that are nice. Real life performace will tell. But there is one thing, that is making me crazy!

See the picture:

The dock (last row) for the icons is blured, messing up any nice background picture. Now you understand, why in the presentation of IOS 7, they used abstract pictures as backgroudn. Well, the question is, how do I get rid of that blur or milky last row and make it transparent?

Any help is greatly apreceated. I didn't find any settings for it in the Settings.

Thanks

PS. If any apple emplyer should be reading this, can they please pass on the error I had, while updated from IOS 6 to 7. When starting IOS 7 he wants to connect to a Wi-Fi network. That will fail, if one tries and I had to soft reset my device. Just choose to continue without Wi-Fi (ignore the message about missing internet) and my iPad used the old WiFi settings to connect to the internet.

I agree. This "dock" has to go. It completely blocks the bottom portion of a beautiful picture of my fictitious girlfriend!! It took me hours to figure out how to hide the god-awful ios 7 icons that cluttered up my home screen. Now, I'm left with a great picture and a frosted blurry bar at the bottom of the screen that I can't remove? $600 for this ipad device and Apple won't give me any more customization than this? Good luck getting more of my money 🙂

I agree totally with the original post -- I have just updated my ipad and discovered the change. I had my son following me around asking to take the dock away (he still thinks that parents can fix everything). We do hope that Apple will fix this.

On a more general issue of updates that impact on the visual, I don't appreciate very much updates that don't make it clear from the beginning about the change of interface and don't give one the option of sticking to the old one (or not updating). I waisted a lot of time trying to 'fix' the dock, until I found out on this posting that it is not possible.

Completely agree that we need an option to make the menu bar transparent, i feel like it detracts from the majority of picture based wallpapers and makes the home screen feel a little claustrophobic especially in landscape view, the aspect ratio and resolution now differ largely from what we are used to seeing. Feedback given... Play your part ppl, we want a see through menu bar!

Unfortunately there is no way to adjust dock settings through your iOS device.

However, that doesn't mean the dock settings can't be altered. The dock (or the ugly bridge that houses your favorite app icons) has nothing to do with what iOS your running and it isn't a permanent fixture on the iPad. The dock is a feature associated with your iOS device's theme. The default theme that's installed on every new iPad/iPhone has the dock feature enabled. I most certainly agree with everyone that Apple should have a "remove dock" feature added to future operating systems. For now, here's the solution to all your problems. You need to edit your theme. I found this website very useful. It's user friendly, and you can completely revamp your iOS device to your personal preference.

It's an awesome website. Even let's you customize your icons. You have to create a theme and install it on your iOS through your USB cable and voila. No more dock...or if you prefer the ugly bridge, to each his own.

Hopefully this answered all your questions.

It's not only that the ios7 dock is UGLY. It also eats up screen space! It looks like a high-water mark, as if someone had damaged the lower part of the screen. The same goes for the grouped apps. In the middle of colourful icons of single apps we get these dull murky squares where we have stored more than one app.

What was wrong with pseudomorphism anyway? We spent years looking forward to increasing hi-res in our graphics and now Apple wants to go back to a 256 colour world!!! If they really want that level of simplicity why have wallpaper?

And what's the safari icon doing with a compass??? It's a browser, not a navigation instrument.

IOS7 has a lot of good things but pleasing aesthetics is not one of them! Fortunately it can be fixed ... but only if Apple does it!

For me pseudomorphism is just as good a description as skeumorphism.

Other than the fact it's wrong, sure. On a technical support forum, it's general a good idea to use accurate technical terms. It helps everyone understand the issues. However, as your problem isn't one of technical support, you can make up word meanings however you like as it won't change anything.
