Q: Iphone 4s ios 7 battery issues

I posted this question in the basics forum, but it probably belongs here:  Since installing iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s, the battery life seems to be significantly reduced, at least judging by how quickly my battery life percentage meter keeps dropping.  I've gone through and turned off all sorts of settings, like location services on most everything, etc.  Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?  Anyone know of any fixes?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7

So after all of this, and the constant emails this thread has filled my email account with, I have fully wiped my phone and started from scratch. As it sits now, with everything on by default, I am at 24mins usage and 6 hours and 40mins standby with my battery at 94%. I had my contacts synchronized to iCloud, and had my apps ready to reinstall. I think so far it is working, but I think we should learn to NEVER update our phones again unless we wait to see all the fallout from the update, like with iOS 6, and 7...

Good luck all. The Nexus 5 looks pretty sweet

Again the bottom line is Apple are selling us short. This is meant to be a quality product we are buying, paying a premium price for a supposedly premium product... So there for I don't expect to be carrying around my charger to charge my iPhone or at home having to keep it constantly on charge, I might as well have a Landline... That's not premium that's not quality and it sure ain't convienaint..

What are the point of features/functions on a phone if you can't really use them without quickly draining the battery? That's poor.. Let's face it iOS7 is not for iPhone 4/4s Apple have messed up big time on this ..as I said before on my iPad and iphone5/5s no probs... So Apple I suggest you fix this problem quickly or your going lose your loyal customers to rivals and that includes me

Apple Style but no substance? Plus Apple don't bite the hands at feed you...

Just get on the phone with Apple and tell them what your problem is!!! Also I'm tired of hearing you people complain about this same problem!!! Also your message about going to the US you can't just go to the US without legal documents and a US issued passport because of US law!

When I tried turning wifi off when I wasn't using it,  the battery drain was way slower.

    Hi Guys

I know a lot has been told in that matter already but I have collected all advices what to turn off in settings to gain more battery life.

I think some of those points were not mentioned on this thread before.

So if you didnt tried already some of those things...

...here we go with the "check list":

    1. Bluetooth Off

    2. Notification Center

    - All acces on lock screen OFF

    - Everything in Today View OFF

    3. Control Center

    - Acces on lock screen OFF

    - Acces within apps OFF

    4. General

    - Spotlight search ALL EXCLUDED

    - Accessibility > Reduce motion ON

    - Background App Refresh, total OFF

    - Wallpaper - ONLY STILLS no animated walls allowed :-)

    - Auto Brightnes OFF (control center should be sufficient)

    5. Privacy

    -  Privacy > Location Services > System Services  TURN EVERYTHING HERE OFF especially FREQUENT LOCATIONS

Standard location services for all aplications can remain active

    - Privacy > Advertising > Limit Ad Tracking, switch to ON

    6. iTunes & App Store

    Turn OFF automatic Updates!

HUH... DONE :-) I bet some of you did not tried THIS set :-))))

After all of this you will have pretty the same functionality like on iOs 6.

Only If you use apps like RUN KEEPER or someting similar then you have to turn on Background App Refresh (BUT ONLY FOR APPS THAT YOU REALLY NEED).

OK ...This is my way to gain some more from battery. If You don't find it helpful... hmm... ask TechGuy ... He might have a better ideas ;-)

    Cheers

Darius. I did everything you posted. I now have a significant increase in battery life. Charged to 100 percent last night before bed. Un plugged with wifi on 8 hours later was at 95 percent. Before that I would charge and loose up to 30 percent battery by morning. So having all that said. People should follow your post. It works for me so it should work for you.

    Cheers.

Thanks for taking the time to do this my friend, I am unsure as to how helpful it will turn out to be just yet, but do appreciate you taking the time to help us. Everything you said to switch off was switched on inside my device, so I am hopeful that I will again be able to get a days usage out of my iphone, which is currently useless.

A couple of weeks ago. I dug out my 10 year old sony ericsson phone to use just for calls, and as of today it still has some battery life left in it from the initial charge that I put into it, after it had lain in a draw at my home for four)ish) years...where have those days gone when you could pay your money, and expect a bit of quality...:-)

Has anyone had any good news with the update to 7.3, it comes pretty soon after 7 so I am hoping that apple have rushed it out to address the so obvious battery issue that so many of us are experiencing...heres hoping!?!

HI, I have the same problem with battery usage but I also have the following problems

    1) the battery percentage usage figure does not change, ie if I start at 10

% it stays at that. But if I power it off and on it then shows the true figure ie. 16% or so and stays at this figure until  it goes dead

    2) when I recharge it it takes the whole night to get it up to the 90%  When charging, it makes a buzz noise about every 7 minutes and then the apple sign comes on ( ie. rebooting every 7 minutes) while charging.

HAs as anyone else got these problems and can anyone help?

    Hello

If i'm doing what Dariusz777 says, what's the meaning of being a owner of an iphone!?

It might be less expensive if i buy an old analog button small screen nokia phone, that will have an week battery life and will do the same that iphone does, that's "calls"!

For "God sake", apple will sunk like Kursk, from the biggest "nuclear" entreprise to a rock bottom full of algae.

For me its more than inevitable, from this point on, is always down.

Of course im only expressing my opinion, and regreting spending my 400 dollars on an brick "full of ****".

Its not my intention to mistreat anyone, so be well.

I just bought an Iphone 4S yesterday.... I honestly thought the battery was faulty.

The phone is almost unusable for an enthusiast, I have to carry my charger daily, it's pathetic.

It's so obvious you want people to upgrade to 5S by making their current devices feel miserable, it's not even funny.

Don't tell me you didn't test iOS7 on multiple devices before release...

Don't tell me you didn't know about the battery drain on older devices...

Exactly!!!!!! At last someone talking some sense!!! Bottom line IOS7 IS NOT FOR IPHONE4/4S.. So all this turn that off turn this off is farcical.... Carrying around chargers, constantly on charge at home? NO! We shouldn't have to be doing that.. As I said before Apple have messed up on this particular issue and they need to resolve it QUICK.
