Sep 25, 2013 2:31 PM in response to landminespring28by CJfromAB,I think the biggest bug bear is that we can not go back to a working OS on these devices. This is a policy that I just don't understand. Especially when they don't have a working OS at the moment.
Once it is working we are all going to move up to the new version again, I don't think there is any doubt about that, just give us the ability to get back to a working system. Seeing as the battery life is the most important thing on any phone, when your new OS seems to cut it in half, you should give your customers at least one more choice.

Sep 25, 2013 10:56 PM in response to landminespring28by A12jpm,Another frustrated 4s user here.
Battery just vanishes even when the phone is not in use. Loses 40% of battery overnight despite shutting down all apps and just having an alarm set.
Please can we have ios6 back apple before I have to defect to samsung!

Sep 26, 2013 2:56 AM in response to CJfromABby jmrbr,Don't install IOS7 if you have IPhone 4S, the battery life is around 40 % what you had before with IOS6. Other IPhones and IPads are also having short battery life.
Tell your friends.

Sep 26, 2013 3:22 AM in response to landminespring28by techguy3347,The probelem with installing ios 7 is once you upgrade you can't downgrade. I've tried it before and I had to call apple about it several times because I used to be a developer fo apple and I hated how finikey the IOS 7 was before it was actually released.

Sep 26, 2013 3:25 AM in response to jmrbrby techguy3347,There is a fix to your battery problem, You can close out the apps your aren't using by double tapping the home button in IOS 7 and swiping up to close out the apps. Another fix to your problem is turn off the location setting under your privacy settings.

Sep 26, 2013 4:30 AM in response to techguy3347by jmrbr,Techguy,
We all did these and more, but there are issues with IPhone 4S, that Apple didn't fix during the test.
We need Apple to fix these issues as soon as possible.

Like jmrbr said, we have tried all this. Besides that, this is really not the fix that we are looking for. I mean Eveytime manually close applications and turnoff location service???

Sep 26, 2013 6:25 AM in response to landminespring28by joshddt,Mine was having terrible battery life too, dropping 10% or so an hour even during low to no use. I kept noticing that the location services icon arrow in the upper right of the screen would keep pooping up, even when I had no apps open. Through trial and error I narrowed it down to the Passbook app. Once I turned off Location Services for this app, my battery life has gone back to normal. It can be turned off at Settings --> Privacy --> Location Services --> Passbook.

Sep 26, 2013 7:46 AM in response to joshddtby Taildragon,Passbook has never requested location services on my 4S (I've never used it), so not the problem for me - but good idea on turning as many location services off as possible.

Sep 26, 2013 12:16 PM in response to landminespring28by Linda Swenberg,I heard that a clean install will fix this. Has anyone tried that?
-
Sep 26, 2013 12:49 PM in response to Linda Swenbergby p.hugo,Already done it, no luck.
Funny thing: locking and unlocking the phone for 4-5 times straight, just to see the graphical effect, heat up the phone and pull the battery down of 1%
As some other have written in early posts, the battery consumption is abnormal, sometimes jumps 5-7% down without a real hard task. Taking and watching photos is one of the most critical.
Hoping in a quick fix.

Sep 26, 2013 1:16 PM in response to landminespring28by jjsilver23,I suspect something is up with imessenger. My battery life and several friends seem to drop extremely fast if you are texting for a moderate period of time. e.g a 30 minute text chat drained my battery from 80% to 20% and the phone was very warm. Other friends have remarked that they only feel the phone heating up when messaging. It is very normal for all of us to text for that period of time or longer and in the past never felt the phone get warm or saw battery life drop like that. It is everyone I know who has upgraded to IOS7 who is experiencing this. I watched a 30 minute tv show on my phone and the battery barely dropped and the device did not heat up.
Any other use does not heat it up like messenger.

Sep 26, 2013 4:34 PM in response to landminespring28by IIISWEEPERIII,I have the same issue but on iPhone 5. A twelve minute video on YouTube will drain my battery 17%. With normal use starting at 8:00am 100% my battery will drain down to under 50% at 11:30am. That's just a few shot calls a few texts and checking my work schedule from time to time. My iPad seems to have normal battery life after ios 7 download. When I was downloading ios 7 on my Iphone 5 I got a error saying please retry, about 10 min in. I clicked on retry and it downloaded in about a minuet. I don't know if this had anything to do with this issue

Sep 26, 2013 5:48 PM in response to Taildragonby Taildragon,Further update: I turned off almost all locations services, terminated applications. My phone just went from 28% reported charge to shutdown in 40 min. sitting in my pocket. After plugging it in, it immediately showed 34% charge. I've noticed that the reported discharge rate appears to accelerate: it takes considerably longer to go from 100% to 50%, than to go from 50% to 0%.
I still believe (without ultimate proof) that the problem is that the OS is reading the battery state incorrectly. Doing all the battery life tricks helps, but my phone is still lasting 1/3 as long as before the upgrade to IOS 7.
