Dec 13, 2013 9:01 AM in response to robinotterby jdintheburgh,Hey Robin,
I too have seen improvement since doing a hard resent and then letting my battery totally die. I still don't have as much battery power as I used to, and I never get to the 10% indicator or 5% indicator like I did with IOS 7.01,2 and 3. After the 20%, it dies a few minutes after. There is no way this many people around the country, all of a sudden, have bad batteries. Yes, the 4s is old. I just think apple folks sat in a board room and discussed how this new upgrade would kill batteries on the 4s, and that they'd have a convenient excuse to say "hey, your battery's almost 2 years old, you need a new one, we can do that for $100. If that happened, it's fraud, and heads need to roll. Regardless, a fix needs to be included in 7.05 or I'm done with apple. They are doing the same thing to both of my macbooks. My macbook pro gets worse with every update. I have tons of room on it, plenty of ram, and only use the internet and a few applications, but it keeps getting slower and slower. There have been no significant advancements in computer technology for several years. This is apparently how businesses have to get by now. Instead of building durable products that stand the test of time, they have to find ways to make them fail so they have to be replaced. Creating more waste. Very disappointing.

Dec 13, 2013 9:06 AM in response to jdintheburghby robinotter,Hey jdintheburgh,
I agree it is frustrating. At least I get a 20% warning before it turns off, turning off at 50% made the phone completely unusable. I guess we have to just wait and see if a fix comes along...

Dec 13, 2013 9:14 AM in response to firaskurdiby robinotter,Hi firaskurdi,
I luckily do not have the same issue with the camera. I do remember coming across people with that problem as I was searching forums though, but I cant remember where. Possibly a google search might bring something up... Sorry not to be of more help.

Dec 13, 2013 9:15 AM in response to robinotterby Taildragon,Just to add anecdotal data to the mix: the early shutdown problem is aggravated by cold temperatures, say, anything lower than 45 deg. F. This is not uncommon while walking around. Putting the phone in a shirt pocket and using a headset helps a lot.
My cold-soaked phone (I left it in the car) shut down at 75% the other night, while idle. Temperatures were about 20 deg. F.

Dec 13, 2013 9:19 AM in response to landminespring28by cmadara,Ok, just a question without a fight. I spoke with techs yesterday and for right now I have to live with it. Happy, no. It's life in the fast lane. I asked him and I'll ask all of you this because I couldn't get a straight answer regarding the question. Maybe it would imply it was Apples fault, maybe not, at this point I don't care. I just don't want my daughter stranded without a phone to call. I'll buy her a throw away for emergencies. Anyway, has "the problem" damaged the battery? Or, does it just drain the battery quickly? I spent a few hours watching how to replace the battery and am willing to do that if you think the battery has been damaged and replacement would help for awhile. Or, can anyone recommend a battery extender. Not a case! She's got a cover for every event and I know she won't want one.

Dec 13, 2013 9:28 AM in response to robinotterby Linda Swenberg,Robin-
There could be many causes for peoples' issues. I have AppleCare so I took advantage of the program and got a new battery before my coverage ran out just to see if it would help. It did. We have iPhone 4S phones in our house. They both had poor battery life immediately after the upgrade. One got better on its own and the other didn't. I replaced the battery on the latter. I also suggest that you close active Safari windows. iOS 7 allows many more active windows in safari and some of them may have background processes running. That helped our 4s phones as well.

Dec 13, 2013 9:30 AM in response to Linda Swenbergby cmadara,Robin, the replacing of the battery helped. I know it won't solve the problem. But was it worth it?
