Sep 26, 2013 5:57 PM in response to landminespring28by Linda Swenberg,Okay everyone, I did just go ahead and do a backup and then a full restore from backup. It seems to be working very well. Unplugged and just hanging around, it still shows 100% charge after almost 1 hour. I did the restore tethered by turning of wifi syncing and turned on the encrypted backup to HD first. The encrypted backup allows itunes to store the passwords for various apps in the backup, which is nice. Then I backed up the phone to the computer. While I was waiting for the backup (which doesn't take long), I updated all of the apps in itunes on my computer. Then I downloaded the latest update. Then I clicked restore and allowed the backup to happen again. I had to turn off Find My iPhone temporarily and the apps took for ever to reload onto the phone because I have over 160 (and that's just a small portion of the apps we have ever downloaded). I really think this is working. Fingers crossed!
In addition, the free space almost doubled, which is an added bonus.

Sep 27, 2013 1:16 AM in response to landminespring28by AlexIt69,The newest iOS 7.0.2 update does not change - in my case - the problem of the battery of the iPhone 4S: I was hopeful, but I see myself further disappointed ...

Sep 27, 2013 9:37 AM in response to Linda Swenbergby jmrbr,Linda,
How is your IPhone is doing after the full restore? I did the same but the battery life still bad.
I back-up to my computer, and after I did a full restore from the backup.
I would like to know if it is working for you, and if I did right.
Thank you

Sep 27, 2013 9:43 AM in response to Linda Swenbergby Linda Swenberg,Well, this worked well last night when I was out for meetings and I was very happy with having spent the time to do the restore. Unfortunately, today the battery is quickly draining again. So don't waste your time with the restore option.
BTW, I don't think turning off bluetooth is such a good idea. I always left mine on in the past because it is much safer. I use my phone for headset use in two cars. I leave my phone in my purse and I don't want to take the extra step to turn on the bluetooth when I get in the car. I also don't want to fumble for my phone (illegal) to turn on bluetooth while driving. I just want to let my headset answer the call. I never had battery drain settings leaving it on before unless I forgot to turn off the headset in the car when I got home. Even then, it was never as bad as it has been since the ios 7 upgrade.
Also, I suggest everyone file reports at http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Sep 27, 2013 12:32 PM in response to Linda Swenbergby p.hugo,I've just used the link you suggest for bug reporting.
I'll encourage all of you to do the same, hoping it's worth it!

Sep 27, 2013 1:09 PM in response to landminespring28by CJfromAB,The battery life is not great on any of the devices it seems, even my iPhone 5 is not lasting as long as it used to.
After the first couple of days with it I felt it was an unfinished product; and Apple seems to be pushing out a product with the feel that I thought only Microsoft could do. It's that bad.
A simple way to tell it is unfinished is to go to:
Settings
General
Usage
Manage Storage
If you then tap Passbook. You will see that they could not even change the icon.
Not what I expect from Apple, and I have been using their products since the original Macintosh in 1984.
It's a sad day.

Sep 28, 2013 8:31 AM in response to landminespring28by samwillhelp,Here are some tips to extend the battery life of the iphone: http://iphone5chelp.com/extend-battery-life-iphone/

Sep 28, 2013 1:48 PM in response to samwillhelpby jmrbr,Dear sameillhelp,
Thank you.
We did more than these recommendations, and nothing can improve the battery life in the IPhone 4S.
It is very difficult to understand how Apple still do this kind of mistakes with battery.
We expect Apple to fix this issue as soon as possible, because we can't use our IPhone4S for more than few hours.

Sep 29, 2013 7:18 AM in response to landminespring28by brsm1990,Same. I have restored as new and it makes no difference. Phone is always hot and battery drains about 1% every two min if the phone is unlocked. Doesn't matter if there is wifi or 3G or neither.
I had exactly the same problem with iPhone 5 when it was new but limited to when there was a 3G/cellular data connection. Nothing fixed it not even replacing the physical phone or restore as new or even DFU restore. Eventually I downgraded to a 4s and problem solved. There were thousands of people complaining of the same back then but apple and their fan boys denied the problem even existed. Now it's the same exact thing with 4S and iOS 7 except it drains whenever the phone is unlocked at all regardless of data connection.
Apple is putting out some seriously shoddy products and software and they do not stand behind them at all.
I'm also having battery and heat issues with a 6 month old MacBook Pro but that's another story.
It took me 5% of my battery to type this.
In addition I also downloaded a monitoring program that shows only 2-4% CPU usage while the phone is hot and draining so fast which removed any shadow of a doubt that this isn't a rogue app but an apple bug.

Sep 29, 2013 11:30 AM in response to Richiejy2kby Linda Swenberg,My battery life with ios7 has improved a lot over the course of a few days. Definitely turn off auto-updating of apps in the background. To do so, go to Settings > iTunes and Apple Store, and disable the Updates option. Just don't forget to check the App Store for new app versions. I think that so many app updates came out over the last week that every time the phone was awake, it was refreshing these. I also think that maybe spotlight was reindexing and it's done with most of it's work and that there were other processes that had to update similarly. That would explain the overheating etc even when you think you are doing nothing.
Right now, my phone is at 75%. It has been unplugged from charging for 2.5 hours. The other day, that would have been after 30 minutes uncharged. It has been running apps requiring wifi the entire time, at first I was doing my regular email checks and random searches (about 30 minutes straight) and also a few updates from the App store. Very internet intensive. Since then, it has been running itunes Radio for 2 hours straight to airplay speakers in my house. I normally plug it in to charger while doing that. I think that is pretty good because Apple only gives the iphone 4s up to 9 hours of wifi internet use. At my rate of use, the 4s will last 10 hours, albeit mostly with the screen off. That does seem on track.
(BTW, although I am not thrilled with the battery usage, I love some of the new features of ios 7 and I would not downgrade and give those up. iTunes radio is great, although I used iheartRadio for that feature in the past. What really works well is email, particularly searching for old emails across multiple accounts. It is very fast and accurate IMO. The old ios would often not find messages that came up on my computer. It was frustrating and unreliable.)

Sep 29, 2013 12:53 PM in response to Linda Swenbergby p.hugo,What about taking picture or edit one of them? What is your experience?
Yesterday I was taking a couple of photos outside, with GPS enable for the camera app, and the battery dropped 15% in a couple of mins!!! Are you kidding me? It's ridiculous!
We'd better not use iPhone 4s at all for saving the battery... come on it's a huge problem, that's it! No escuses, no ways to save 5-10% of battery along a day.
Anyway, the phone warms up every time it's using an Internet connection and I have no background updates.
Switching off the parallax effect could help a little bit the battery and keep the phone cooler.

Sep 29, 2013 1:27 PM in response to p.hugoby brsm1990,Switching off parallax does nothing for me...
-
Sep 29, 2013 1:49 PM in response to brsm1990by jmrbr,Switching off parallax, location, background update, etc., doesn't increase battery life at iPhone 4S.
Reset all settings, reset as new IPhone, etc. will not increase battery life at iPhone 4S.
We hope Apple can fix, if not, we need to buy a new iPhone or switch to other smartphone brand.
Terrible.......

Sep 29, 2013 3:07 PM in response to landminespring28by GeekBoy.from.Illinois,I have an old iPhone 4 (32GB AT&T, unlocked/off-contract). The device has been replaced with an iPhone 5 for just over a year, but I still use the old iPhone 4 as my iPod Touch. I have entered "Airplane Mode", then re-enabled wifi and bluetooth. My iPhone 4 is in a Mophie Juice Pack Air, and it will make it through the entire day with a large number of email accounts configured (either fetch every 30 min, or push when supported), no new features turned off, and by the end of the day, my iPhone still has a 100% charge, and the Mophie is still only about 50% drained. I see similar results with my iPhone 5 in it's Mophie, and both iPhones have iOS 7.0.2 loaded.
The key factors I've seen are that location services, and the screen are two of the largest battery drains for an iPhone. The more you are worried about your battery drain, the more you keep your screen on to check the battery meter, and you drain the battery faster because the screen is on more.
