Why do I need links to Disney, ESPN and Yahoo? How do I remove them?
I love the look and feel of iOS 7 but why this marketing junk?

Hi ..
Most likely just pre installed bookmarks.
Tap the Safari app in the Dock then tap Favorites then tap Edit bottom right corner of the screen.
Tap the red circle left side of each website then tap Delete.
The links are not in bookmarks.
Tap Settings > Safari then tap the double box icon bottom right side of your screen.
You can close open Safari windows from there. Just tap the x top left corner of each window.
I agree, super annoying. Trying to figure out how to rid my phone of them.
I see, they are under favorites in bookmarks.
To remove these predefined 'Favourites' or even others you may have added:
Tap the bookmarks icon on the right of the address bar.
Tap favourites.
Tap edit on the bottom right of the menu.
Red circles shall appear next to each listing permitting you to tap and delete unwanted ones.
There is no double icon box on the right side. I even tried adding another site to favorites to see if that would bring it up. (iPad)
In iPhone the menus is at the bottom of the page (second from right). Resembling a book.
You may have to pull upwards to show it.
This is ofcourse assuming you have already opened Safari (as the discussion pertains to unwanted favourites displayed when no address or search entry has been made in Safari.
I know what you mean, these favourites (on iPad) are all the more annoying because they are imposed on us without choice to opt out.
I'm a UK male adult, I have no interest in US favourite sports channels, kiddies Disney, don't trust or like yahoo and consider it presumptuous of Apple that we would want them as a favourite. And because there is no option to remove them it agitates me even more.
ANSWER: Until it's sorted I now use Google Chrome!
Of course there is an option to delete them. It's incredibly easy. Go into the Bookmarks list and swipe left on the bookmark you want to delete.
I am also a UK adult, pensioner even, and I have no idea where these good folk are getting these bookmarks from. My Safari bookmarks on both iPad and iPhone are exactly as I left them before the update... ?
I assume they must either have new devices, or installed iOS 7 as a new device, because, as you say, any bookmarks already stored on there before the update remain afterwards.
They are not listed under your regular bookmarks. If you open bookmarks, there should be a "favorites" tab. On the iphone it's right on top of the bookmark list. Open the favorite tab, and you can delete them there.
No I can't. There are no bookmarks anywhere, including under "Favourites", that I did not choose to put there. There must be an explanation for these unwelcome bookmarks, but iOS 7 didn't give them to me.
I'm sure the four favorites pre loaded into IOS7 were paid for by Disney, Yahoo & ESPN, but they are there as examples to show the masses a cool new feature. It is odd that tonefox can't clear them...I was able to on my IPad, Iphone and my wife's IPad 2. In my case, when I opened bookmarks, the first line (denoted with a star icon) was favorites - I had no favorites, just a lot of bookmarks - and was able to swipe away what I didn't want.
To move the bookmarks I wanted to have in there place (and many more) I opened the page and saved as favorites.
Now instead of the four pre-loaded, I have twenty or so others.
