Besides "brightness" and font size is there anything I can do to to help with this terrible download? Apple, big mistake here! Please help.....

I can't say I have any problem with the new iOS 7 look. In fact, it's much easier for me to read and use, and this comes from someone who requires reading glasses often to view computer & device screens. As much as I've loved my iPhone for the last 5 years, recently it became an issue for me to decide whether I needed to switch to Androids for larger screen/text. Now it is much easier for me to see the iPhone's content, and some of the Accessibility changes have improved the text sizes and contrast.

Your mileage may vary is how I see it.

I also have an astigmatism. I've been using an iPhone since the 3GS came out on release day. I've never had such terrible eyestrain, headaches and mild nausea like this until iOS 7. I'm surprised some people are insinuating that we are just looking to stir up trouble. I love my iPhones. Always have. I don't even care about the aesthetics of iOS 7- I'll get used to the new look and locations, etc. However, this physical reaction I'm experiencing is enough to make me give it up and find an alternative. I sincerely hope some answers are still to come.

You do know that Apple doesn't read or post on these forums....

Yes, we do. That's specifically stated in the forum guidelines.

Apple involvement. Apple may respond to questions but does not formally provide technical support on the Site. Any information that is provided by Apple or Apple employees is offered on an "AS IS" basis without warranties of any kind.

And that's why Apple provides a channel for feedback.

Quoting from Apple's own page on ergonomics and eyestrain (found at http://www.apple.com/about/ergonomics/vision.html):

Eye strain refers to ocular fatigue, eye discomfort and headaches associated from intensive use of the eyes. Common causes include:

  • glare on the computer screen
  • poor visual correction (out of date eyeglass prescription)
  • reading small character sizes on the screen
  • poor contrast between text and background on the monitor...

Hmm--what was that last one, Apple? Poor contrast between text and background on the monitor? Does that mean we should be reporting these issues as bugs?

This is wonderful to hear!!! Now, once again, at the risk of getting my post pulled once again (there have been at least five posts pulled), the display on iOS7 is cool looking. the problem is, it's just too darn difficult to read, as stated in many of the posts here. It's just not usable in the long term.

I have reported much of this to the feedback form (prior to one of my other posts getting removed). I also called applecare (case 507538398) to let my concerns be know, both about the iOS 7 and the treatment on these forums. The tech was very understanding, and said that she would forward my concerns on.

I really hope that you guys listen to us, your customers.

Reading a backlit screen is not like reading books or newspapers, I can read books and newspapers all day, and I have been known to read books all day, too. With no eye strain.

I have also had marathon reading sessions with my paperwhite Kindle (in excess of 6 hours straight) with no eyestrain. And have also read for several hours on the Kindle app on my iPhone with very little eyestrain (white text on black screen or black text on sepia screen), so it is not my eyes, it is the color choices in iOS 7. Light grey on white, white on astro-bright green--these are not good combinations on a backlit LCD or OLED screen.

I know this is not supposed to be the place, but where else can we post complaints to Apple on a public forum? And yes, I have already left my negative support.

Actually, this was the first time I've left feedback since becoming an Apple user in 1984!

Bottom line, they need to start over in IOS 7

I am very sad and dissapointed.... we really need a downgrade option

Sep 26, 2013 3:42 PM in response to Grif426

A downgrade option is the LEAST Apple should do in this case.fir the next 16 months until I can trade out the phone with my carrier I'm not going to let up on my displeasure and dissatisfaction over this upgrade. Apple should have made it clear as to what the new GUI was going to be like as opposed to just repeating "how wonderful the new IOS is" in various ways.

I honestly will NEVER select another Apple upgrade again after this. My trust in them is completely gone concerning their ability to connect and produce a straightforward user friendly product.

I will NEVER choose a software update from Apple again!

I own several Apple products and for the last 5 years or so I have been a HUGE Apple supporter among friends, family, and coworkers. For the most part, historically Apple products and interfaces have been second to none and the competition could not come close. But after this fiasco with IOS7 my confidence and support of Apple is GONE.

My complaints?

1) The new interface is washed out and lacks the user-ability intuitiveness for which Apple has always been known. 2) if your using a 4s and older, the hardware does not handle the new OS so well and hence some users will experience choppiness and lags when scrolling and/or moving among the applications (and that's straight from the mouth of one of the tech support guys I spoke to on Tuesday).

My suggestion?? If Apple refuses to allow reversion to a previous OS, then at least have an option under "settings" to allow switching between either the "classic" user interface or the "new experience" interface.
