Hands free operation of iphone connected to bluetooth car radio

I was wondering why I should have to select the bluetooth handsfree device everytime i answer a call. What's the purpose of handsfree if i have to select audio source and then select the bluetooth device. It takes a lot of time while the phone is docked and i have to take my eyes off the road to look for the audio source everytime. It should either automatically default to the BT device, or have a setting to select which should be the default device. When making a call it always defaults to the BT device, but not for receiving. This is a bit of a backwards way of doing it.. Who agrees with me?

I don't have this issue. Once I paired my phone with my car. When a call comes in I can answer it from the steering wheel. My dash has a 5-6 inch display where it usually shows trip mileage, what song is playing... When the call comes in it displays who is calling. I can also play songs from the music app on the car stereo.

Did this start happening under ios7? If so have you unpaired the iphone to the car and then re-paired back up again?

It's not ios7. It's been like this since my iphone 4 with ios5. Also it isn't a built in mmi system like audi, merc or bmw. It is an LG car radio with bluetooth. All I am asking is why there isnt a setting to set the bluetooth device as default when connected. I have another car that has a Nokia handsfree and it works fine with the iphone, but the same issue persists where i have to select the bluetooth device with every incoming call.
