AirDrop - OS X Lion to iOS7 - not working

I've a Macbook Pro running OS X Lion and an iPad Gen 4 running iOS7. I wish to use AirDrop between them.

I know clearly how to use the feature.

Both devices are connected to the same WiFi network and are next to each other.

The problem is neither my Mac nor my iPad is recognizing each other's presence on AirDrop.

Also, both devices being owned by me, both are signed in with the same Apple ID.

What could be the problem?

You have iCloud enabled?

Yes, both on my ipad 4 and my mac pro icloud is enabled.

They had the time to make floating and moving notification indicators and moving background images, but didn't make airdrop on my MBP and airdrop on my iphone talk to each other.

There's going to be hordes of engineers available from Nokia soon, perhaps Apple should consider hiring a few.

Amazingly ridiculous, but Airdrop in Mac OS and Airdrop in iOS7 do not communicate with each other. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AirDrop for a little explanation.

To confirm: at this time, Airdrop only works on iOS > iOS or Mac OS > Mac OS. It does not work iOS > Mac OS - they are different OS's; just like an app you buy for your iPad will not work on your Mac.

Maybe Apple could rename one of them? It's a bit on the confusing side.
