Entourage Not Responding

Every few minutes, Entourage locks up for for 20 seconds to a minute or more with a spinning beach ball. Sometimes the delay runs its course, other times I need to force quit. If I do force quit, Entourage will be hightlighted in red with a "not responding" message.

I have rebuilt my data base several times, and that doesn't seem to help. I do not have this problem with any other application.

It is painful, annoying and terribly inefficient. I wish I could use Apple Mail, but everyone in our company needs to be on Entourage to share calendars and such. Any tips on what might be happening, or how I could get it to run better?

Try clearing some of the older mail (delete) and then quit Entourage, then launch with Option key down to optimise and compact the database and see what happens.

Also check if you have any pre-created schedules that may prompt Entourage to "do something" for every few minutes... it may be trying to perform a task that may already be "outdated", e.g. check mail from a deleted account etc...
