Nov 25, 2013 1:43 PM in response to JoeBlow2444by Ezuq,SOFTWARE GLITCH!! HERES WHY! Basically, I changed the WiFi chip on my phone to a brand spanking new one. Everything was good! WiFi was working perfectly! Then, I lost signal. Turned my phone off and on. Next thing you know, GREYED WIFI!!! *** APPLE?! Sort it out! All this within 2 miniutes. Explain that!

Nov 25, 2013 1:52 PM in response to Ezuqby JoeBlow2444,Perhaps its not the actual chip itself (I did say that was just an example), but rather some other part. Putting in a new wifi chip (who did that? Apple?) may have moved/flexed the insides just like heating/cooling it, causing it to work temporarily.

Nov 25, 2013 1:54 PM in response to JoeBlow2444by Ezuq,I did it myself. It isn't that hard. Anyway, seeing as it work for a short period of time, I don't think it's my handiwork or the chip's fault.

Nov 25, 2013 2:04 PM in response to Ezuqby Drift89,Wow, it's not so easy to install an BGA device, you've to solder it with infrared ray. How can you do that by your self? I ask u because I work as pcb fixer for a big Italian company that uses also BGA chips

Nov 28, 2013 12:10 PM in response to Serrinhaaby HaoranM,Hi , I have the same problem. Is your wifi stilling working well? I tried the freezer way and it don't work. I want to try the hair dryer way this evening.

Nov 28, 2013 3:46 PM in response to HaoranMby pillowpants66,Ever since updating to 7.0.4. a few days ago, I too have no wifi, poor battery life, and my external battery wont charge the phone.
If apples software has damaged the hardware, and the phone is not under warranty, who will pay? I didnt break it.
Maybe im holding it wrong.

Nov 28, 2013 11:51 PM in response to Carla Marie Valenciaby Ridiculous IOS7,isn't this some kind of bullsh** that we should sue Apple of?
I'm so tired of Apple representative on the phone repeatedly saying "sorry for your inconvenience but only way left is to pay 299 dollars for an exchange"...
WT F??? We didn't do anything to cause this but IOS that you APPLE brought us upon!!!!!!
Besides, it's not a warranty issue. because it all happened after we just followed your IOS update recommendation.
Thus, It's the liquidate damage issue where we are victims and APPLE's f****** terrible IOS caused all this!!!

Nov 29, 2013 3:45 AM in response to Carla Marie Valenciaby foiledjavvy,I'm an iPhone 4s user and I am really mad about this WiFi problem. I know we all are. iOS 7.0.4. Working very fine until November 27. Yesterday, I tried the whole hairblower and freezer thing and it worked, I am able to activate the wifi! I tried using iMessage, and other social apps and it is working. I tried to play a game then my phone starts heating. (Which is kind of usual for me because my phone usually heat even before when I am on iOS6.) All of a sudden the wifi connection is gine and when i went to Settings> Wifi. Again, I cannot select the on and off switch, it is greyed.
Since I badly need the wifi connection on my iphone, i tried the heating and cooling trick aagain and it worked but as i have said the phone heats and voila, no wifi again. Then I would have to check the settings again and again select the network(Wifi connection from router) and make it work and after a few minutes maybe less than 10, it will be gone. *Nope, th router isn't the problem*
It is really irritating. I want to make it work as soon as possible, in a stable way because i really need it by Dec. 16 because I would go on a trip.
Do you think restoring would help? (I doubt it but I want to know you opinions.)
Thanks!

Nov 29, 2013 3:51 AM in response to Rivendyby foiledjavvy,Is it still working? Or is it back to greyed option again? Or is it frequently disconnected when iphone starts to heat a bit?
-
Nov 29, 2013 3:56 AM in response to foiledjavvyby pillowpants66,Like the guy on page 20 said, Its like a connection that isnt quite touching until you either freeze or heat it. and then it will expand or contract, and then touch again.
I tried freezing mine, but i left it on. It didnt work, so was going to try heating next. Do you think it needs to be turned off while doing either procedure?

Nov 29, 2013 9:40 AM in response to Carla Marie Valenciaby Drift89,Of course yes, because when you turn on your iPhone it will re-initialize the peripherals... I suppose... Like every electronic stuff in the world ;)

Who will pay? You will. The terms & conditions of every single iOS update make it very, very clear that any and all issues that arise from your use of the iOS are your responsibility, and that the update is voluntary.
As a side note, it's not the iOS that caused the issue. Your wi-fi chip was probably defective to begin with, and the heat from the update process revealed the issue... not the software itself.
If it was the software, all iPhones with that software would be affected, which would literally be millions of devices.

Nov 29, 2013 12:23 PM in response to TJBUSMC1973by pillowpants66,But by the sounds of it, there literally could be a million phones with this problem.
They need to unfreeze Steve from his cryogenic chamber. He will sort this out.

The terms & conditions....so what part specifically say we are out of luck? I didn't really see clearly where it states that
"if our iOS update heats your iPhone up so much that it will destroys your wifi chip and or wifi antenna connections, this is your own fault for buying our iPhone, wanting to update your iOS to our latest and greatest iOS that we recommend for your iPhone. We are not concerned with the happiness or retention of consumers of our Apple products"
If the update is voluntary, why do I keep getting notified on my phone that there is an update? Can I stop or turn this off?
Does this mean that people who stick with iOS 6 or stuck in between say 7.0.2 and 7.0.4 are stuck with security flaws and apps that will soon no longer work with iOS 6?
