Who will pay? You will. The terms & conditions of every single iOS update make it very, very clear that any and all issues that arise from your use of the iOS are your responsibility, and that the update is voluntary.
As a side note, it's not the iOS that caused the issue. Your wi-fi chip was probably defective to begin with, and the heat from the update process revealed the issue... not the software itself.
If it was the software, all iPhones with that software would be affected, which would literally be millions of devices.
The terms & conditions....so what part specifically say we are out of luck? I didn't really see clearly where it states that
"if our iOS update heats your iPhone up so much that it will destroys your wifi chip and or wifi antenna connections, this is your own fault for buying our iPhone, wanting to update your iOS to our latest and greatest iOS that we recommend for your iPhone. We are not concerned with the happiness or retention of consumers of our Apple products"
If the update is voluntary, why do I keep getting notified on my phone that there is an update? Can I stop or turn this off?
Does this mean that people who stick with iOS 6 or stuck in between say 7.0.2 and 7.0.4 are stuck with security flaws and apps that will soon no longer work with iOS 6?
iOS 7 Terms & Conditions: http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iOS7.pdf
7.2 YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY
APPLICABLE LAW, USE OF THE iOS SOFTWARE AND ANY SERVICES PERFORMED BY OR ACCESSED THROUGH THE iOS SOFTWARE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK AND THAT THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO SATISFACTORY QUALITY, PERFORMANCE, ACCURACY AND EFFORT IS WITH YOU.
7.3 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, AND APPLE AND APPLE'S LICENSORS (COLLECTIVELY REFERRED TO AS "APPLE" FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTIONS 7 AND 8) HEREBY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS WITH RESPECT TO THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES, EITHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND/OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS.
7.4 APPLE DOES NOT WARRANT AGAINST INTERFERENCE WITH YOUR ENJOYMENT OF THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES, THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN, OR SERVICES PERFORMED OR PROVIDED BY, THE iOS SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, THAT THE OPERATION OF THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT ANY SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO BE MADE AVAILABLE, THAT DEFECTS IN THE iOS SOFTWARE OR SERVICES WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE iOS SOFTWARE WILL BE COMPATIBLE OR WORK WITH ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS OR THIRD PARTY SERVICES. INSTALLATION OF THIS iOS SOFTWARE MAY AFFECT THE USABILITY OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS OR THIRD PARTY SERVICES.
7.5 YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES ARE NOT INTENDED OR SUITABLE FOR USE IN SITUATIONS OR ENVIRONMENTS WHERE THE FAILURE OR TIME DELAYS OF, OR ERRORS OR INACCURACIES IN, THE CONTENT, DATA OR INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE iOS SOFTWARE OR SERVICES COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE OPERATION OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL, LIFE SUPPORT OR WEAPONS SYSTEMS.
7.6 NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY APPLE OR AN APPLE AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY. SHOULD THE iOS SOFTWARE OR SERVICES PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR LIMITATIONS ON APPLICABLE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF A CONSUMER, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION AND LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
In short, you accept any and all repurcussions from the use of the iOS software. These Terms & Conditions are provided prior to the install of the iOS software, and you are required to agree to them before the installation will occur.
And no, you can't turn off the update notification. If the little red icon with the number one in it bothers you so much, move your Settings icon into a folder, and then move the folder to a secondary Home Screen.

Hey , thanks for pointing out that that one went right over your head once again...sarcasm, look it up!
So what you are saying is because Apple wrote up some BS terms & conditions, that their upgrade is allowed to destroy our iphones hardware, as well as everyone's iphones out there...new or old. 4,4s,5,5s and of course the failing to sell 5c's?
You forgot to answer this one....
Does this mean that people who stick with iOS 6 or stuck in between say 7.0.2 and 7.0.4 are stuck with security flaws and apps that will soon no longer work with iOS 6?
As I said before, if it happened to your own iphone, you would be fighting this also. If this didn't effect you, who must you keep putting in your 2 cents? What gain do you get from blasting all of us who have this issue?

Sorry TJBUSMC1973, but has to be one of your most ridiculous replies to date!
I think he meant billions...really? What can you cite to not support that claim?
can you read the words "literally" and "could"
Is Steve really in a cryogenic chamber...? What source can you cite to support that claim?
Are you for real?

Nov 30, 2013 7:46 PM in response to HaoranMby HaoranM,Here is what we can do. Don't use wifi. If you don't have enough data plan and have to use wifi, try to freeze your iphone4s for 10 min. Then you maybe have wifi back for 15min. But as it heats up, wifi goes away. After contracts end, we can switch to another phone.

At least it is starting to hit the news:
NBC30 Connecticut did another story on ios7 http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/on-air/as-seen-on/233409731.html

I don't have to cite anything. I didn't make the claim that millions of devices have this problem. I didn't say anything about Steve Jobs.
So far, the only sources indicate that only a small percentage of users are experiencing the issue. Anyone wanting to make a claim that it's 'millions' has the burden of proof. The plaintiff ALWAYS has the burden of proof. The defendant doesn't have to 'prove' innocence. The plaintiff has to prove guilt.
Surely you can understand that, yes? Or are you immune to logic?

Thanks Spock! I really don't feel like argueing with someone who just doesn't get it whatsoever! If you Google "apple ios 7 wifi 4s" you get about 20,900,000 results....nah, no one has this problem...right!

Thats "Apple speak". But of course you already knew that, right?
Lets forget about Mr Lawyer for a minute and get back to the issue.
I tried the freeze test, but it didnt work. So i tried the hairdryer test and that DID work. But only for approx 20 mins. Had to get it fairly hot too.
Then i decided to go window shopping for a new phone, (i wasnt looking at apple products) because i have a feeling, nothing is going to get done to resolve this problem.
Also switched my phone off last night after a full charge, and even with it turned off, it lost 30% charge.

Never said no one had that problem. The number of Google results is irrelevant.
If I google 'Tom Cruise', I get 130 million results. But there aren't 130 million Tom Cruises in the world.
Nor are all of those 20 million results you quote related to this issue. By the time you get to page 5 or 6 of the Google results, it stops talking about the wi-fi greyed out issue, and starts with results about wi-fi in general, or iPhones in general.
