iOS7 Find my phone lockdown for business

Our company currently uses iPhones as our business mobiles. All users with iPhones use their own personal Apple ID accounts so they purchase their own apps, etc.

With the new changes coming in with iOS7 and find my phone how do we get around the lockdown that will occur if the user then leaves the company? As far as I can tell, if I don't have the person's personal Apple ID details the phone could end up useless.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

it may just take some responsibility of the employee to do the above steps. the only real situation i could see a problem arising is if they are leaving your company, and choose not to take the above steps, in which you may need to work in some kind of agreement into their employment that these devices are the property of the company, and to leave on good terms they need to apply the above steps.

otherwise, you can setup restrictions on the devices to not allow changes to accounts, but this is a little overkill.

No, no luck with this one. I ended up creating a new sign out form and policy stating that the user must remove their Apple ID from the device if they leave the company, if they fail to do so that they will incur the cost of a new device. I would think that it woudl be in Apple's best interests that they would make some sort of master account that businesses can use to link iPhones to. But then again, it has taken Apple 2 years to get some basic functionality within iOS that others have had so I can't see much hope in them finding a solution to this one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Employers need to configure the device with proprietary firmware/software and a company controlled email address. If the employee changes the email address or password, the software goes offline and the IT specialist is the only one who can reconfigure it.

The email needs to be configured so that the company regains control upon separation of employment. Apple has a team that can assist employers with the configuration of systems and devices. Apple does not however, own a machine that can travel backwards in time. . . yet.

Hi,
I have just come accross this issue and it relates to an issue I am having. We have the same scenario with all of our employees having issued iPhones (approx 50 or so) with the new IOS update with FindMyPhone, we started configuring a generic business email address for this application and keeping the password confidential (Only known by us in the IT Department)

My question is, after configuring this on a few devices, is there a potential for all the devices to sync their personal information into the one icloud device (photos, contacts etc) which may cause some issues as you would imagine.

And secondly, is there a better method I should be using rather than a single icloud email.

I can understand mobile phone policies etc is one way to try and handle this however it doesnt help when you are dealing with a lot of users. There is always someone who will do the wrong thing. Short of planning at phasing out the iPhones from the business, I would like to see if we can make this a business managable device first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks - Greg
