Hello Everyone,
The new facetime audio icon is not showing against any of my contacts on my iPhone 5, showing on the iPad mini as expected but not on the 5.
I have signed out and in, disabled and re-enabled, even changed my apple ID password (no I didn't have much hope in that one either)
Does anyone else have this problem? and more importantly........ Any ideas how to get the icon so I can start enjoying VOIP calls???????

Ok. So a country restriction. But why FaceTime audio and not FaceTime? Really that makes no sense. I can see and hear political upset but just hearing it would be wrong????? Nahhhh this is a bug
I Had buy this iphone5 from shanghai and updated my phone with the new IOS7 and then I noticed that there was no facetime audio feature in my both contact app & facetime app later I checked my friends iphone4s which he buy from HONGKONG had this audio feature, then I got too that some of my friends who brought iphone from china also don't have facetime audio feature . I also called the china telecom customer care they told they too don't know about this thing and has not been deactivate by them so this is surely a bug ......if anyone have solve pls let us know .
With around a 10% market share and the hope that the new models will make it bigger in China, I can't imagine this will go down well.
I'm a conspiracy theorists on this. It's easy to release a hot fix to deal a bug like this, for an important feature in iOS 7. You guys know that, they were selling iPhone 3GS and Nokia E62 with WIFI cut off in China years ago just like this facetime audio thing now. I'm wondering, how will the apple customer care in US respond this.
As the Chinese description of tec specs, and there is no "Audio Calling" function mentioned on Apple offical website in China (iPhone 5s with iOS7)
So this function should be blocked if you guys' iPhones bought from China. It will not work even though you use other carriers sim card.
Have this problem too. I tried call facetime audio via Siri, she can do this, but my call close immediately.
Wanna see official reply from apple about this.
Also have this problem. I bought it in China. I talked with my Chinese friend and they all have no facetime autio icon. This is ridiculous. I am using my phone in South Korea, I paid it more than Korea in China. even though there is an restriction it must be done by Chinese mobile company, not with software restriction.
Now my Iphone 5 is worse than Iphone 4S at out of China. It's insane.
same issue I'm having. Iphone and ipad mini with sim doesnt support the audio only facetime. A friends ipad mini has the audio function on it because the ipad version doesnt have sim in them.

I've been experiencing the same thing here with my iPhone 5s from China. Is it because of the chinese carrier only? Anybody has any updates??
This is frustrating to have bought a phone with a restriction.
It is a compromise that Apple have to make in order to do business with carriers in China.
Reason for this, facetime audio (VOIP)will reduce their profit.
I have just noticed that FaceTime Audio is not available.
I find it hard to believe that this is a compromise because VOIP would reduce profit because for years before FaceTime Audio I have been using Skype, Viber, Forfone etc here in China without a problem.
What annoys me is that this is not clearly outlined by Apple, if it was then I would not have purchased my iPhone 5s in China.
Lets hope whoever made this decision comes to their senses.
