Question

iPhone 4S microphone not working after iOS7 update. Siri recognises voices though.

Since I have updated my iPhone 4S to iOS7. My microphone has stopped working. when people call me, people can only hear what I am saying after I turn on the speaker. the normal microphone is not working at all and always have to turn the loud speaker on.

Siri can also recognise my voice so I presume the microphone is working but not when on the phone app or something.

I really appreciate any help.

I have 4 iphone 4S, one for each of my kids. One of them has this exact problem. The mic does not pick up sound when making a call. It does work in speaker phone mode. I am running iOS 7.02. I tried a clean factory reset and install and it made no difference. The mic worked fine before iOS7.

Anybody else have any tips on this?

I live in South Africa, and I had the same problem with my iPhone 4.

After weeks of frustration and swearing, I was in the process of restoring my phone to a previous iOS. To do that you need to turn the "Find my iPhone" option off, since i turned it off, my problem was solved. No need to repair anything or revert back to old iOS.

***** that i cant use Find my iPhone, but atleast i can use my phone.
