Yes, that also worked for me. Unchecking the Live update on the smartplaylist.

I totally agree, unchecking the Live Updating on the smart playlist works. But its a nuisance, we should not be cutting corners like this.

I totally agree, unchecking the Live update works. But its a nuisance, we should not be cutting corners like this. Apple should

attend to this issue which has been going on for the last 3 years or so

    No, it doesn't work!

Without live updating your playlist ceases to be smart and requires iTunes for refreshing. It still *****

  • Jebs59 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yes, unfortunately you have to manually refresh the smart lists in Itunes library.

From what i heard, ios 7.1 will correct this issue. Can't wait!

I have the confirmation that it won't be fixed before ios8. I gave an information about 7.1 beta, apple decided to remove the post.

It isn't allowed to give detail about beta. Apparently they like to remove post about bug they don't want to fix (it cost so much money....)

If it is not fixed in 7.1, my iPhone won't be mine anymore. If apple don't care about their customer Who pay so much for a high end product, with a so low end software dévelopment.

If you search for "Smartplaylists not working" on google you will get similar discriptions of this problem since IOS4, so it's more likely to say Apple won't fix this ever.

Has anyone tried talking to apple support about this? I know that that is a crappy solution, but I think I've heard it said before that if enough people contact support about a given issue that it will make it more likely for apple to address it. I contacted them about it once, and they couldn't help at all.

My problem is I sync my smart playlists, but the playlists show up empty. If I go to the "Songs" tab in the music app, all of the songs from the playlists are there.

The solution was to just listen to all music from the "Songs" tab, which *****, because then if I only want to listen to songs from one smart playlist, I can't because songs from every playlist that I have on my device are in the Songs tab. Also the live updating doesn't work but that sounds pretty standard for everyone.

    How frustrating!

Does anyone know if Android devices have music management software that offers smart playlists that are comparable or better than iTunes?

    Thanks.

All these bug about the music player have been reported the first day of the release by the users, and during the beta by the developers. So a lot of people contact them without any success. So yes, They are aware of the bug...

So be patient until ios8, or find an answer to your question. (I would be interested by the answer by the way)

  • doctorjo5 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Well Zatixo, how do you have confirmation that this won't be fixed until ios 8? I know that this problem has been around in one way or another for many generations of ios, but it seems like it got worse with ios 7 and itunes radio and itunes match. It seems like they would be working on fixing it soon rather than not until this summer at the earliest, don't you think? Are you a developer that works at apple or something?

I also am skeptical that I will find any type of answer. Like I said the person at apple support that I contacted was hardly helpful at all.

Apple has Billions in treasury, but handles known issues like small freelancers, ignoring the price their customers pay for their expensive best-product-to-be-on-earth things.

A small workarout that worked for me. Don't know if it will work for all songs, but I only tried with one.

1 - Rated the song that wasn't showing up, with for example 2 stars

2 - Created a smart playlist quering 2 stars songs

3 - Synced that playlist with iPhone

4 - Unrated the song to zero stars

5 - Changed the smart playlist options in its configuration to query zero stars

    6 - Resynced the iPhone

Songs are still there, and new zero stars songs did sync on my Phone.

    Cheers guys

I already had a problem making the music app to crash when removing a song from a playlist. It has been fixed in the next major release.

Another bug also related to playlist, when removing N song in a playlist, then when choosing a song in the playlist it plays the wrong one. The first time I had this bug was 1 years ago (but is still existing in ios 7.x)

It seems that just a few bugs are fixed between in a given version. Bugs are fixed with the next major relase. That's annoying.

    Ok guys,

Sorry, but I can't recreat the workaround myself. Perhaps it was a bug on a bug.

Thank you Apple for ignoring this bug for years (And all other ones)

Thank you Apple for not letting us modify our posts on this forum but have to create new one instead !

Thank you Apple for nice support copared to the price we pay for your products !

    Thanks
