    Being a Match user unfortunately does indeed introduce a whole new layer of complications. I've tried the uncheck "Live Update" but to no avail. What I have found that works for me (for the most part) is to remove any references to time based criteria (i.e., remove references to "last skipped", "last played", "Time is > XX", etc).

     

    The odd thing about this is one would assume in my case that Match is causing the playlist to not be in sync for my iDevices. Strangely, my iPhone 5S is the only one affected. My iPhone 4S and my iPad2 both with iOS 7.1 installed seem to be working correctly. It's only my iPhone 5S with iOS 7.1 installed that I have the issue with the playlists.

    This is also happening on my Device. New iPod Touch. The only way to that i have been able to get a Smart Play list to show items with no rating is to make it "Playlist is Music" like rockmyplimsoul said. However this causes the live update to break.

     

    Current iPod Touch that works:

    3rd gen with 5.0.1 on it.

     

    Current iPod Touch that does not work:

    5th gen  with 7.1 on it.

    I am also having this or a similar problem on my iPhone 4S running iOS7.1

    My Smart Playlist also uses

    • iTunes Match
    • live updating
    • ratings
    • last skipped
    • last played
    • nested conditionals

     

    I also have a problem where I have a smart playlist that includes other smart playlists. When I try to play one of these, it either navigates me out of the playlist list or crashes the music app entirely.

     

    My $0.02. I'd love to see this fixed.

    I have a case placed, if i ever figure mine out. i will post what the solution was that apple support gives. I have seen the music app crash before when loading a list that it didnt like. However! I was able to reopen the music app and then get the list to load but, then it didnt load correctly after that.

    I have this exact same problem - iOS 7.1 on iPhone 5S and my zero ratings songs are not showing in my zero ratings smart playlist.

    To the admin: please contact me. I don't understand why you remove my comment saying to contact Apple to notify that this feature is important and should be fixed as soon as possible. The more people contact, the more it shows that it is important.

     

    (Maybe you wanted me to add: you have to wait for a fix, there is nothing you can do?)

    I just filed a support ticket (and paid since I'm out of warranty). I was told this was getting sent to the engineering team and they will call me back in a few days. I'll report any progress.

    Like others here, my Smart Playlist to indentify  songs with ratings = zero star works for iTune/Mac but doesn't populate the ratings = zero star songs on the iPhone. It's been a bug for a while based on my expirience and posts here.

     

    How do we get Apple's attention so they fix this bug?

    Apple was ignoring a iMessage bug, until... read the news, and now they take it seriously.

     

     

    I hope this will be fixed in iOS 8.

    guys, finally, I probably find the ultimate solution to this problem: 1st REBOOT your iDevice; 2nd Sync your iDevice with iTunes, most likely the smart playlist will be updated and turn out to be normal now : )

    shenyue, tried the iPhone reboot technique you suggested, it did not work. The bug is still there.

     

    Smart Playlists for 3 star, 4 star and 5 star music works as expected, on the Mac and iPhone. 0 star Smart Playlist works on Mac but does not work on iPhone.

    It depends on your smart criteria ... my 0-star smart playlist populates just fine on my iPhone 5, but you have to break the Live Updating feature (meaning that you have to re-sync to iTunes to get it to update -- but the playlist does populate correctly).  This does not work for Match users, but all others this should work fine:

    - Rating is <null>

    - Media Kind is Music

    *Where "Music" is just the general category in iTunes for music items.

    IT'S NOT A BUG !

     

     

    Why should the songs sync ? As the playlists are smart, a zero star means a bad songs, so "smart" playlist knows it should not be downloaded !

     

     

    That's the magic of Apple guys

    This break the idea. And having to sync the iphone with this piece of bla of iTunes is a pain. The sync is so slow, ahs so many problem that I avoid it.

     

    Apple give so few attention to iTunes and music on the iPhone that I'm wondering if they won't give up soon. I have no other logical explanation. The other explanation is also logical, but I can't say the word on this forum. But I can go to "very rude, stumborn, without any respect to their customer".
