As of this time Apple doesn't fully support Windows 8 as far as I know. You may find some functions don't work as expected. This is probably more of a problem for notebook owners (trackpad) than mini and iMac owners. I can't say since I choose to use Parallels Desktop for Windows.

See this:

Supported versions of Windows (Authentic, single, full-installation)

  • Windows XP: Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 (Boot Camp 4 only)
  • Windows Vista: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate, Service Pack 1 or later (Boot Camp 4 only)
  • Windows 7: Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate (Boot Camp 4 or 5)
  • Windows 8: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro (Boot Camp 5 only)

directly from Bootcamp support page for requirements.

Never been a fan of Boot Camp. It's a nice cheap way to run Windows, but you have to reboot and then you're ONLY in Windows.

I prefer Parallels (or VMWare Fusion - but I use Parallels) and running a VM of Windows. I have XP, 7 and 8 running in Parallels and have had no problems with them.

Same here. Personally use Parallels as well. I also

have XP, 7, 8 as well as Fedora Linux and an OSX

Mountain Lion VM. All the Windows and the Linux VMs

I use for electrical engineering hardware/firmware/software

design an performance is very acceptable.

The best thing about running Windows in VMs is that backing

up is simply copying a VM file where as in a Windows machine it

is a real pain.

I do have a Win7 Bootcamp install on my 2010 Mini I use

as an HTPC. This so that I can occasionally play Blurays

and get the full audio performance (PowerDVD can decode

audio HD formats to a full 5.1/192kHz/24 bit). The current

Mac based players can only pass the base DTS and Dolby

and cannot decode HD.
