WPA2 with WRT54G and iBook

Hello all,

I have an iBook with OS X 10.2.8 and a Linksys WRT54G. I've configured the wireless router with WPA2 security and have confirmed it works with a PC. I'm having touble configuring the Airport on the iBook for WPA2-PSK, AES security. It works great with no security, but I'm not considering that as an option. Mostly, I'm having touble enter a valid password/network key. I've tried changing "Password" to "128-bit ASCII" with and without a "$". No joy. I even read somewhere that a 13 character key has something to do with it. Nope.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a OS or firmware issue. Has anyone else gotten this to work? What other options do I have?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Bemis

Hi,

2 things,

What model iBook? is it running an Extreme card?

I think for WPA2 to be supported, you have to be running an Extreme card and at least 10.3.4 for the version of AirPort software that would utilize WPA2. If you do have an Extreme card, then you might consider upgrading to Tiger and testing it out then.

Best of luck!

I'm having a problem whereby my ibook g4 will not connect WPA2 to my dlink di-524. It works great wpa, but will not connect (says remote host cannot be contacted or something), anyone have any ideas?

Why is wpa2 giving my trouble?

Thanks,

Matt
