Q: Telstra iMessage Activation Problem Status

Thought I'd start a specifc topic relating to iPhones on the Telstra network that can't get iMessage and Facetime activated as the original thread is also dealing with other iMessage issues unrelated to Telstra.

Original discussion here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5318987?start=0&tstart=0

To summarise,

New iPhone5x and old phones updated to ios7 that needed to be activated for iMessage seems to be having problems registering their mobile number with Apple's iMessage (and Facetime) servers. Some people have got iMessage working with their Apple ID, but that isn't the problem, it's having their carrier number activated with iMessage.

If you have success with your Telstra phone please let us know on this discussion so we can check to see if ours is also working.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Twitter seems to be the best bet for updates. I complained on FB and called up technical support yesterday at lunch and got nowhere at all! I guess you just need to get through to the right person if you want your complaint heard..

i think this is all related to how the update was done.

i have a few mates with iPhone5's and all is working fine for them, although some of them did via OTA and seemed to work with no issues. Same as a few people at work did the same via OTA and worked no problems at all.

me im the kind of guy that woke up at 6am Thursday morning and did via my PC and seems to be screwed.

most of my mates are with Telstra, Optus, Vodaphone and they are fine , i just seem to be the 1 that has the issue...

have basically tried every single known method that everyone has posted but stull no go.

I did see at one stage where the carrier settings updated but still on 15.0 is that the latest version?

doesnt really bother me that it aint working cause i have unlimited text but so annoying that i cant group message FML =/

oh this is doing my head in... pretty much tried everything over and over... think its time i just forget it and just let it go, and let Apple/Telstra fix it... pretty sure they will release 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 for the i5 sometime soon...

Upgraded an iPhone 4S to iOS 7 (on Telstra) and iMessage is fully working - it activated the phone number associated with that phone.

Upgraded an iPhone 5 to iOS 7 (on Telstra) and iMessage is not working - still trying to activate - same error as everyone else in this thread.

I do not know why the iPhone 4S works and the iPhone 5 does not.

So glad I'm not the only one having this problem, my husbands updated fine and mine is still not working and I've done everything suggested on these discussion boards to try and get it working....

And I wish Telstra would hurry up and fix it

have been on with Apple for the last 3 hours... i know it sounds like a long long time but have been through 2 movies while talking with them, but have had 3 reps (after disconnecting and getting thrown around like 20 times) basically tell me that they are having isses, as in Apple servers have been overloaded and there have been multiple reports of these issues(they have identified that there is an issue) and unfortunately they just have the same procedures that i have tried for the last 3 days.

i seriously hope it is a Telstra issues, even though the telstra crowd support forums say its an Apple issues (normal response from techs etc.) either way i just hope someone somewhere fixes it.

No success yet, and I'd like to think I'm pretty knowledgeable in this area. Harrassing Telstra on Twitter but they're not telling us a thing. I swear they're waiting til Monday to work on it, can't be THAT hard to proxy the iMessage activation requests through to Apple.

I'm still having troubles with my iPhone 5 and my wife's (who is also on iPhone 5). We both updated to ios 7 on Thursday. Just in the last hour I have updated my parents iPhones (4S and a 5) to ios 7 and they both activated straight away!!! They both with Telstra too!!!!

no idea what just happened but my iMessage and FaceTime just activated on its own.

turned off iMessage and Facetime for like a 2-3mins and turned back on and just checked it now (about 45mins) and its all activated...

no idea what happened but looks like it fixed itself. everything comes up blue now with no issues...

Good stuff ChrisLek - but are you sure it's activated on your Telstra number and not just your AppleID?

yeah definitely. next to Send & Receive my number is displayed there.

Plus also made sure that my email address is not selected (ticked) for both iMessage and Facetime.

    Cheers
