Q: Find my Friends doesn't work after IOS 7 update

We use find my friends for our entire family to monitor kids locations, etc.  Since updating to IOS 7, one of the phones only shows it's location sporadically - otherwise says location not available.

Have verified location services are turned on, nothing is blocked, etc.

This phone was updated to IOS 7 over wifi (vs. through iTunes) - one other phone had some minor (unrelated) issues after updating over wifi that were resolved by doing a factory reset & updating from iTunes - wondering if that could be cause of the issue here as well.  Anyone else encountering issues with FMF?

I have a few iPhones 5, 2 of which were running iOS7 Beta 5 prior to iOS7 GM release. Interestingly enough, these are the two phones that have the malfunctioning behavior. I wonder if this could be related ? My other iPhones running iOS7 are fine (status updating in the background)...

Same here.  I have my wife, 2 teenage children and my mother that I have set up on Find Friends.  Counting mine that is 4 iPhone 5's and 1 iPhone 4.  All are working except my son's iPhone 5.  If the Find Friends is not open he does not show up, it constantly reads Location Unavailable.  The minute he opens the app he starts displaying. They all worked perfect until the iOS7 upgrade.  I have reset every setting imagninable and it's still not working.  Here's hoping a solution comes soon!

I'm having the same issue with two iPhone 5 devices.  The app is basically useless as it is functioning currently.

Same thing here in DK. Those of the family which has updated to iOS7 doesn't show up in FmF :-(

Actually this app is one of the reasons why we use iPhones in our family. Don't wanna go back to Android!

We are having the same problem. Family of 5 and we all use this. This change is major headache because we all clear our running apps from time to time and keeping the app open on all 5 phones all the time is not going to be a easy thing to accomplish.

Additionally I found in the past that keeping the app running in the background seemed to run the battery down quicker so I would check it and close it out.

This needs to be fixed or the app becomes virtually useless for all practical purposes.

Yes Apple - PLEASE put FMF back the way it was.

It makes no sense to have purposefully changed this critical part of the app's functionality for no apparent reason.

It is a VERY usefull way to keep track of the kids without having to text or call.

Certainly the software engineers realize that closing apps that are running in the multitask bar saves battery life?

Do all apps that use "Background Refresh" now have to be running in the multitask bar in order to refresh??

This was not the case in the previous version of FMF.

I love this app, but right now it's completely useless if it doesn't update locations when the app is closed.

Does anyone know of a good 3rd party app with this functionality that all of us parents now need back?

Thanks in advance for your response Apple!

    Same here.

Issue ever since the update to IOS7.

I cannot find my contacts and they have complained of the same.

I've verified all the settings and everyting is the same as I had it prior to the update.

    Please look into this.

I was thinking Google Latitude, until I realized it was shut down last month.  If you find something please post it here.

    Thx

Ditto here!  What was the original purpose of this app?  Apple - We know the answer to this question.  What we don't know is WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT??

We all seem to have generally the same need for the app.  As it functions now the app is completely useless to ANYONE FOR ANY REASON.

I'm not sure how we need to contact Apple regarding this issue but I doubt they read these boards.

If someone know PLEASE POST IT HERE so that Apple can be properly notified and fix this VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE!!!

September this link was posted earlier in the thread. I have sent in a report myself but the more people we get to do the same the better chance that someone at Apple might see the problem and do something about it.

Sent in a bug report today to Apple.  Everyone needs to do this.

I also confirmed that as long as you don't force-quit the app then it will continue to work properly in the background.

I just contacted Apple support and what they told me is that the FMF app is not theirs. Its produced by a third party and the problem is that the app has not been updated for iOS7. They suggested that we try and contact the vendor and make them aware of the problem and ask if there is an update in the works.
