How to secure erase Safari caches

Could anyone please direct me on how to remove caches from the library in OS X 10.8.4, Safari version 6.0.5? I am trying to free up some space on my Macbook Pro and would like to see if I can't remove the caches from the last few years..... is there a better way than using 'reset Safari'?

Thanks!

Safari-OTHER, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Safari 6

Empty Caches

1. Safari > Preference > Advanced

Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".

"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

2. Quit Safari, if open.

Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" and then "Caches".

Look for the folder 'com.apple.Safari"

Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"

Relaunch Safari.
