iOS7 iphone 4s & itunes Large usage in iphone 4s "USAGE MESSAGES" & itunes "OTHER"

I have the current iOS7 for my Iphone 4S and under the settings / general / "USAGE", it states that i have 4.1GB in Messaging. I have deleted all my messages and it still states i have 4.1 usage in messages. When i sync into itunes it shows i have over 4.0GB as "OTHER". Is there any way of removing this so i can clear up my phone.
