Oct 8, 2013 7:49 AM in response to erostroby stewart g.,After having gone through this brutally frustrating cycle of randomly rebooting, I found this thread (and others). For the fun of it I plugged it into my work PC and it stopped. It also stopped when I plugged it into my Mac last time.
This isn't very helpful if you're nowhere near a desktop or laptop, but if you are it'll help until Apple fixes it!
edit: My phone is a 4S but everyone's having this problem, it would appear!

Oct 8, 2013 2:51 PM in response to erostroby yyj_jay,Same issue here - iPhone 5, now convieniently 4 days out of its one year factory warranty. Sounds like a FW or SW issue adn I will try the DFU mentioned on page one in this thread. Hopfully that will help. Device was working perfectly up to now, and only started happening about a week ago (updates to iOS 7 the day it was released).

Oct 8, 2013 6:33 PM in response to yyj_jayby RandyCA,At first it looks like a battery problem, maybe its a software one. I already try the restore mi iphone 5 using DFU mode, but same still happens, so that was not the solution for me. There's a lot of people with the same problem, i hope apple fix this problem because im getting crazy.
Another problem happens when im charging the phone, the charge level pass from 60% to 100% (for example). This is happening with you too??

Oct 9, 2013 12:02 PM in response to erostroby nfred,I've having a similar issue. I have both a 5 and 5S. Had my 5 for over a year without a single problem. Now, on iOS7, I'm having random shut down issues. It doesn't matter what the charge level is, the phone will shutdown, and then display a dead battery and tell me to plug it in. If I plug it in, or wait about 5 min, the phone will restart and the charge level will return to whatever it was. I had it die with a battery life of over 95%
The 5S is having the same problem, but more frequently. I've emailed iPhone support about the problem. Hopefully they can address the issue and make a patch. It's pretty bad that the phones are just shutting off.

Oct 9, 2013 1:45 PM in response to erostroby joshua274,Try setting it up as a New iPhone not restoring from a backup then put all your data back on the phone. yes u will have to do all your settings again. I had many issues with my 5S and iPad mini but once i set them both up as new devices I have yet to have 1 issue with either device.

Oct 11, 2013 2:17 AM in response to RandyCAby stewartcattanach,Hi everyone. I also tried replacing my battery and it solved the problem.
The screwdrivers are cheap on eBay, and there are plenty tutorials on YouTube.
New battery was about £12.00
I hope this helps
Best regards

Oct 11, 2013 6:21 AM in response to stewartcattanachby RandyCA,Hi stewartcattanachhow long did you use your iphone?, because for me a year of use it's pretty poor. Before i got the iphone 5, a was using an iphone 4 for two years and never got any problem with it. For me its rare that this fail is produced by a defective battery, people with new iphones got the same problem.
Cheers!

Oct 11, 2013 7:31 PM in response to erostroby dandmfinlay,My Iphone 5 is shutting off to. It will hit 20% and will not turn back on unless I plug it in. The other day I plugged it in and it immediately was at 70%. It is doing it whenever it wants to. VERY FRUSTRATING. Started doing this when I upgraded to IOS 7.

Oct 13, 2013 11:00 AM in response to erostroby dancing_galaxy,Hi,
I just sent a bug report, too; probably we should do it all so that Apple can take this issue as top priority to solve. I also gave the link to this discussion so that they can see how many people are having the same problem. I hope this problem is solved soon, since this started to happen like almost everyday for the last couple of weeks ruining my days in many sense.
The bug report link once again: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Oct 13, 2013 6:35 PM in response to erostroby JonnyBeGood123,Just chiming in to say I'm having the same problem. VERY frustrating especially because I use my phone as my alarm and it's made me late multiple times now. My phone resets every 2 minutes and I can't do **** with it. I have an iPhone5 with the newest update and this only started since I updated.
