It failed to update.

Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.
Disconnect power and reconnect. Should work.

Doesn't normally - are you saying it's specific to this update?
Disconnect power tested but no result.
I used a micro-usb and iTunes to restor the Apple TV and it's ok.
I don't know if I'll have to do an update to all my family and all my friends who have Apple TV with my cable. Ridiculous!
My poor parents who have 70 years and I've said that Apple TV was super simple.
I've got the same issue! And i don't have a micro-USB.
What to do?
When I got the "connect to itunes" screen I connected to iTunes and restored. Then when I plugged it back into the TV it still showed me the same "connect to itunes" with the flashing led. I did this twice to no avail. Then I just disconnected the power and reconnected and then it rebooted. I thought maybe I should have done that in the first instance itself. Hence the suggestion to disconnect power and reconnect when the "connect to itunes" is displayed. But it looks like maybe you have to really connect to iTunes.
Unpowering and restarting often corrects spurious glitches - qucik and easy to do as well, but normally the connect to iTunes message means an update has failed and a restart doesn't help.

ARGH!!!! APPLE!!!!!!!
I am so not impressed, and why didn't i even press update. It's not like there is gonna be anything new for non US users anyway. And what am i supposed to do now, it's friday 10:21 PM.
Rookie mistake.
Same problem here, though I never requested the update.
Unless I'm seeing things, my Apple TV does not have a USB connector; just power, HDMI, optical and ethernet, so how would I restore via iTunes?
Hi Alley_Cat
I thought I'd try it and sure enough, ATV 2 and ATV 3 are both quick flashing with connect to iTunes image. The usual unplug or remote reset won't work. Heading out to pick up a usb cable now...
I'm curious about connections to their ATVs and fails. Mine are wireless. I wonder if ethernet users are experiencing the same thing. Just a thought.
My Apple TV is connect to my Time Capsule with Ethernet, and it failed.
@harmonicbarbie
micro USB. Which nobody have. :)))
Ok, dumb me. Found the micro USB slot. Will try it and hope for success!
Thanks, steeze. It's dark at the back of my Apple TV, but found the slot ;-)
