Q: iPhone 5S.  Nothing happens when I try to airdrop anything.  Help.

Other users with an iPhone 5, 5C, or 5S?

My iPhone 5s (64Gb) can receive files from iPhone 5 devices but cannot see those devices. It can see another iPhone 5s (16Gb) though and send/receive files to/from it.

Are the 5S's running iOS 7.0 or 7.0.1?

I'm having the same issue.  Whether iOS 7.0 or 7.0.1, my iPhone 5S will appear on iphone 5 phones through Airdrop, but will not see other phones to send pics to.

So I can receive, but not send.  Any fix for this?!?

Check these other devices, do they have Airdrop set to "Contacts Only"?  If so, and you are not listed in their contacts, your device will never see theirs.

I have tried it every way.  One with "Contacts Only", one with "Everyone", both with "Everyone", and both with "contacts only (and we are contacts".  Every time they can see me pop up in the Airdrop section and they can send me pictures, but I cannot see them to send.  Seems like a problem with the 5S models!!

Just upgraded my 5s to 7.0.2, and it now sees an iPhone 5 (which also had the 7.0.2 upgrade).

I still have this issue. Want to send a photo from my iPhone to my Macbook Air here.

iPhone 5S on 7.1.2

Macbook Air on OS X 10.9.5

I press the Airdrop option on the app and nothing happens.

If I try to email or text the photo though it is fine.

This particular thread is over a year old.

Also, iOS 8.1.2 is the current version... try updating.  If the Macbook isn't on the current version, update that as well.

I thought it was supposed to work on the former OS's.

And haven't upgraded due to concerns over the new OSs.
