After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS7 I have no sound for incoming texts when my phone is sleeping. All other sounds ok. Tried my alarm with phone asleep and it works. Music plays after going to sleep. Haven't noticed anything else not working. When I wake up my phone the text message is there, but, no sound when it came.

Me too. So sick of the changes and inconsistencies with each upgrade to my IPhone 7+. I fricken hate to upgrade with Apple. Then, excessive use of “signing in “. These people are supposed to be smart but the upgrade designs seem to be made by bumbling idiots. Years ago, when I got my first Apple product, Mac SE. Apple was known for being user friendly. That’s a long lost concept!!
I went to Settings, Genereal, Reset, and Reset All Settings and now it works, but I have to go back and redo my personal settings choices.
I have the same phone; same problem. Resetting settings works (as does simply re-selecting the tone preferences), but only for a short while, then back to not working
You can touch to the Assistant Touch on screen and touch to Device -> On Sound or Off Sound. It solve for me. Good luck!

I still have the problem as well. It comes and goes. Very frustrating to have to always look to see if I have a text.
(IOS 7.0.2 iPhone 4s). Reset all settings and restore iPhone do not fix the problems. There are no sounds on text and email notifications, only vibrate. Fixed one thing and break other things...Apple should release more stable product.
Finally I manage to fix the problem by configuring iMessage to receive msg from my phone only (not from emails) Now the sound is back.
How did you fix it if restoring settings doesn't fix it? I never know when someone texts me unless I open the messages. No sound, badge, or number on main screen.
Anyone know why apple won't let us report issues directly?😠
Obviously this is an issue for many people. I am so annoyed I am going to the genius bar later today.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I have tried to reset the sounds, etc on message app and there is no change. I am afraid to reset the whole phone. Not sure why I should have to.
I think the genius guy, James at Cherry Hill solved the problem. Our phones had "do not disturb" set for most of the day, so no sounds on the texts were going through.
it is adjusted via settings.

I should say that my text sound has worked since my first post except for one day. Rebooted again and all good.
It seems that the the new software (IOS 7.0.2 update) is not compatible with the hardware of a series of iPhone 4S. I also tried everything posted on these pages, none of them worked! I even tested after "Erase All Content and Settings" w/o any application installed; didn't help!
I learnt that there no an esy way to go back to 6.1.3 or 6.1.2 versions. These post has 45671 Views. So there are lots of us out there. I have created a facebook page to ask someone from Apple to answer!

this worked for me.do not disturb was on. ios7 must have set it automatically & i never even knew it existed.
I'm attached to my old 4S and this update seems to turn on the Do Not Disturb and you can't turn it off. However you do have the option of allowing calls from everyone. SETTING - DO NOT DISTURB- ALLOW CALLS FROM
I have an Iphone 5 and after I downladed the las version of Ios my speaker´s sound was gone and now I don´t have sound for anything, but when I use headphones it works noemally, what could I do? HEEELP!
