Q: Air Drop between iMac and iphone5 not working?

I just accidently airdropped pom to my schools website... how can i get it back!!! please answer back fast!!!!

I think you can only cancel it if it is in the process of sending. Once it has been sent, there is nothing you can do from your end I do not think. Sorry man. What did you airdrop just out of curiosity?

Once it is sent, there isn't anything you can do unless the recipient has not accepted it as Airdrop has to be "accepted" by the recipient. Did you get any indication that the transfer was successful?

Remember: once published on the internet, it is there for eternity.

I also disappointed to know I cant airdrop from iphone and ipad to iMAc, hope technical team can fix it.

I'm here because I just googled "Why can't I airdrop between my mac and my iphone". I am also mystified this isn't supported. What really is the point then of Airdrop? My macs in the house all have file sharing, so no need for them to talk to each other through airdrop and the iphones don't need to swap photos like this - all we want is to be able to drop photos between our phones and our desktops in the house...and I read this is not possible now?

Sheesh what a crock. Again - what is the point of why most iphone/imac users would even turn arirdop on if it can't swap between phones and desktops?

Thumbs up MegaMatt.  They implemented a seeming useful feature in a mostly useless way.  Why would I need to airdrop between two macs on the same network?  File sharing already does that. 

Airprop between two phones would be useful if it worked over cellular data, but since the phones have to be on the same network for it to work what's the point?  Might as well just turn my phone and show you the picture.

The single best use for airdrop would be to move pictures I took on my phone from my phone to my iMac, so I can use my desktop to manipulate them, email, backup etc. 

It's just another example of Apple dumbing-down their systems and features so that instead of being functional they're "simple"... which for Apple increasingly means "don't work right". 

I firmly believe Apple will NOT fix this because they want people to move away from using desktop computers alltogether.  They want the Apple universe to be a purely mobile universe.  Look at Mavericks.  It implements improvements only for laptops.  For my iMac, everything is slower and features have been stripped away.  But I get better battery life!  Oh, wait....

here's another one for the, "I can't believe it's not possible on a Mac" growing file..... how do you get your iPhone to do 1:30 seconds or 90 seconds as a countdown timer?.....

The ONLY way I've found it possible is to get Siri to do it?..... Can that be 'more' stupid?..... so let me get this right Apple..... you have built a useful timer into the iPhone.... but it can NOT do increments of 30 seconds???? unless...... you voice command Siri to do it?..... What happens when speaking this command is NOT possible?...... like in a meeting.... or a loud venue?.....

is this for real??..... or am I just missing something simple.... in which case I'm an idiot?.......

I think you're missing the point completely though...... the fact is..... it IS possible to do increments of 30 seconds...... but ONLY via Siri..... if anyone needs to read something again.... I think it's YOU!!....

Saying the iPhone is not a Mac is nowhere near being pedantic. It's a simple fact. Learning the difference may help you understand how to get the most out of these products.

Nobody with a modicum of intelligence would think "Apple" and "Mac", "Microsoft" and "Windows", or "iPhone" and "Mac" are synonyms. I suggest you spend a few minutes educating yourself on the difference between individual products by a company, and between company names and product names. It's quite simple.

Clearly you've yet to discover the AppStore where dozens of additional timer applications are available with features to suit every requirement. Take your pick. You are not limited to only using the built-in timer app if you find it doesn't suit your needs. Try looking further than just what comes with the phone.

Airdrop between OSX and IOS is not available, if you wish to ask why, ask Apple rather than us. We do not have that knowledge.

Actually, nowhere do you specifically state you wanted to be limited to only using the built-in Clock app. You actually asked:

The answer to that, as I've already stated, is to use one of the many third-party timer apps from the AppStore, or (as you've already discovered), use Siri with the built-in Clock app.

Anyway, to re-cap: Without using Siri, there is no option to set seconds for timers in the built-in iOS Clock app. If you want that option, tell Apple, or choose a third-party timer app with that functionality from the AppStore. Is that simple enough for you?
