Q: Air Drop between iMac and iphone5 not working?

I'm guessing I'm probably making some rookie mistake here - but I can't seem to get this to work?  I can see airdrop in the control menu on my iphone5 (I've updated to iOS7) and I can open airdrop on my imac (purchased 2012 - running most current version of Operating System).  However, neither device seems to recognize that the other is there?  It doesn't show I have anyone available to share with?

Thanks in advance!

Why do you meed 3rd party ones, when you have an option from your own OS..!

I can sync my photos from my iOS devices to my Wndows(easily), why can't i do the same on my MBP?

and i can't find my MBP in my iOS when searching for AirDrop.

    Simple:

Microsoft's core customer base is businesses, IT professionals and tech-savvy youth.  What they're working on is making their sophisticated technology more accessible to regular consumers.

Apple's core customer base has become "Oh my GAWD, iOs7 has TWITTER in it? Soooooo cool!  Oh my GAWD, the new iphone comes in PINK, oh my gawd oh my gawd!!!"  What Apple is working on is making their "it just works" technology so simple that any moron with one working finger can successfully operate any of their devices or programs.  Functionality is a bad word, make it SUPER COOL and FUN, who cares if it's useful or not?

It's just evolution at work.  I'd be surprised if Apple even offers desktop computers 20 years from now.  They clearly want to move their entire business to mobile devices, which makes sense:  Apple's mobile devices are throw-away items for techno-numpties with thick wallets.  Plus then they focus 100% on cool looking designs and programs that offer zero flexibility and have only one input, a big button that you can press and pretty colors happen or something.

Oh it will definitely happen, provided I make it that long.

The only question is whether or not that computer will be a mac

My question mechanically can it be done between the devices iMac to iPhone or ipad or the components do not exist in these device?

Or is it all just programing?

What?  There's nothing mechanical involved in any of this.  This isn't a fax we're talking about.

    You have to use iString.

But iString is only two strands, and only works in one direction.  I need mult-strand functionality! Thanks Apple.

Obviously my words/description was not precise. But I would have thought some of you would have figured it out and replyed with some cogent thought.  Perhaps use of your.... Ibrain. But instead you chose the opportunity to attack.

    Interesting,...... pretty much describes personalities.

You must be Democrats  :   lmao

Figured what out exactly?  Your question was if it's mechanical or software issue...   There's nothing mechanical even happening so what is it you are expecting people to "figure out" exactly?

The funniest thing here is that no one "attacked" you... but you felt the need to lash back right away at personalities and political preferences.  FYI, no I'm not a democrat.  It's amusing that you instantly ascribe political views to people's response to your nonsensical question though.  Pretty much describes personalities... indeed.

20 to 30 photos? Let's just say you want to keep 3 of them. And you don't even have the time to delete the other 27 photos... Is this a joke or something? Ok, so how long is it going to take? And you don't even have that 30 or 40 seconds in 24 hours just to do that? What I wanted to say is technology will never reach a state called "advance". The more we discovered, programmed, invented, the bigger our desire will be. Siri was some cr*p when it first came out now it is probably the best in its field... Look at Android, look at Blackberry and be satified with a little allumium brick in your hand. We can never expect something perfect from anything known nowadays, because iPhone is not design for you, it was, it is, and it always will be designed for all of us.
