using ios7-how to stop apps that are running in the background . apps that you viewed but want them to be cleared so battery doesn't wear down)

They changed it a bit, but you can still close apps. Double click the Home button to pull up the currently running apps. Side scroll over to the app you want to close, then swipe up on the app *window* (not the icon at the bottom). Now most of the time, unless the app is stuck and running crazy, it shouldn't hurt your battery too much to have apps open; the OS is smart enough to only allocate resources to the active apps.
