Extreme battery drain in IOS 7- iPad Mini Unusable after Upgrade

Good catch - The setting was "Never", but once I changed it everything has gne back to normal.

That sounds like a great idea....but what if I cannot get to the start-up screen due to lack of power. Th home/sleep switch toggle does not work for me....

The ipad mini doesn't have enough power for the start up screen? So is this new ios gonna make us buy the new iPads? I wonder how many people with ipad 2 and ipad mini are having issues? I was gonna wait a week before upgrading to ios 7! But I guess I'll be waiting longer or never upgrade... :(

Are you back to better battery life? And how is ios 7 on ipad 2? Slow? Should I not update? Or stay with 6.1.2? I don't mind the look of ios 7, just worried that my ipad 2 won't be able to handle it. I have 9 gb free. The only game I have is TSTO. And a few other apps, not big apps.

I'm back to good battery life - no more issues - I say proceed with upgrade!

Sorry to read about your battery problems. I upgraded my mini (64gig/Wifi only) a couple of days ago. Smart Cover turns off screen just fine. I haven't reset any settings and my battery life is just as good, if not better than before. I have turned off bluetooth, since I rarely use that. I'm always on wifi and use it frequently, though not continuously, throughout the day. It's 3:30 now and it's been on since 6 this morning. 86% battery. If it there is an iOS 7 problem, it's certainly not affecting me so far. Hope you figure it all out.

Here is an update for mi Ipad 4 issues. My upgrade DID NOT turn the lock/unlock to "off". It was still on. With basically a dead battery I tried to sync with my PC and did not have much luck. While still plugged into the PC, I tried several reboots and finally got the "apple logo"and briefly got to the home screen. From there, I did a full reset of all settings. After that, it still showed that the Ipad was not charging. I changed to the wall plug and it finally said "charging". A mere 10 hours later, the Ipad was 100% charged. I have unplugged from the wall plug and it appears to be holding charge for now. So.....it appears that a full reset of settings, followed by charging in wall socket maybe be the answer for some of us. I'm still going to keep an eye on functioning and I'll report back on status after some usage time.

I think I'll update my ipad 2 first because I use my ipad mini more. Will do update tonight after a nice cup of coffee and a smoke. Will post after a couple of days of using it.

Thank you for your response. I'm a little scared, but im gonna go for it. Could careless about jailbreaks! Hate em anyways... I think a JB drains your battery worse than any ios. If anyone has any issues please report back here so I can compare issues. Try and help each other. Good luck!

Have same problem since recent upgrade. Fast unexplainable battery drain. It has nothing to do with lock-unlock in my case. 1 % off as I write. Hope the bug Will be fixed.

Didn't have the patience to wait and see see if the 7.0.4 update did anything to resolve the issue, but the heat in the battery suggested not.

Applied your reset solution and first indications are the battery life is back to something approaching normality.

Same issue on iPad 4th gen. with iOs 7.0.4. Battery is down 1% as I write this post. Lock/Unlock is on.
