Sep 23, 2013 5:49 PM in response to toddnsfby Yo_bee,I just noticed this as well.
I am not liking that and they replaced it with the originator and the last person to reply first name.
Why would they do this.
I know why. They are apple and they feel that your should conform.

Sep 23, 2013 6:10 PM in response to toddnsfby Marc Wilson,Now the only way to tell is to swipe or open the message.
The behavior isn't any different... the thread will be marked unread until all the messages in it are read. Knowning the total number of messages in the thread doesn't change that.

Sep 24, 2013 7:12 AM in response to toddnsfby boopfm523,I too miss this feature. apple, can we please bring this back.
Marc Wilson --> the behavior isn't different about the entire thread being marked read/unread. It's the quick indicator of how many of the messages in the thread are "unread". I depend heavily on the importance of a thread (for work) based on the number of messages in a thread and knowing how many are unread.

Sep 24, 2013 8:51 AM in response to boopfm523by scwood88,I use this too. There has to be a way to get this back. It must be a setting. If anyone figures it out, I'd love to know! It's killing me at work too!

Sep 24, 2013 10:20 AM in response to toddnsfby Maarten van der Smagt,In addition, the threads are now marked as written by 'firstname 1' and 'firstname 2'. Why those first names? Mail is not just another social media carrier. Mail is not whatsapp, it's not facebook, it's not texting, it is mail. Some people use mail for work.
In addition, lots of email adresses are in address books/contacts as 'first initial, last name'; i.e. J. Doe instead of John Doe. Now my threads read as coming from 'L. & F.' How am I to discern who wrote those important emails ?
Maybe in the US the target audience for IOS/ Iphones is all youngsters, but in some parts of the world IOS is also used for work related, serious stuff. I am totally in the dark how this constitutes as an 'the best user experience'.
Please, Apple, give us serious users a good user experience as well (the way it was).

Sep 24, 2013 11:53 AM in response to toddnsfby D. G. Lett,I agree. One of the things I have always appreciated about my iPad email is being able to burn through the emails by conversation. This is extremely annoying. To me, this was one of the best things about Apple email!

Sep 24, 2013 6:39 PM in response to toddnsfby Yo_bee,To add I just noticed that the option to add additional folders to push.
What is Apple doing?
To add this thread email notifications is a perfect example. There are 7 or so and I would not have known that because of the new format of apples mail.

Sep 26, 2013 2:06 PM in response to toddnsfby David Vielmetter,Was hopeful that this would be fixed in 7.0.2 but no luck. I used that number as a way to determine the whether or not anyone else on my team had responded to that message. It was a great way to quickly make a decision to either "get involved" or "stay away from that trainwreck." I hope they bring it back soon.

Oct 1, 2013 8:53 PM in response to toddnsfby Yo_bee,I did not pickup on this at first, but it was brought to my attention that the emails with thread counts greater than 1 there a double arrow on the right where as there is a single arrow when it is just a single email.
I know it is not the count and it does not jump out at you, but it is something to look for until they add the count numbers back (patiently waiting)

Oct 2, 2013 7:18 PM in response to toddnsfby aharoon,I am disappointed. I am thinking to revert back to IOS 6. So far IOS 7 seems to me more of implroving the looks than the functionality

Oct 2, 2013 7:22 PM in response to aharoonby deggie,You will have to void warranty to do that. I suggest you send feedback to ask for that function back: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
I've already done so.

Oct 3, 2013 3:47 AM in response to Yo_beeby D. G. Lett,That was great feedback. Thanks for sharing. I originally turned off grouping by conversation, until you shared this feature.
