Mail App Storage Amount

Hi experts,

On my iPhone 5 (now running iOS7, but I think it was the same with 6), under Settings<General<Usage<Mail, it shows 1.3 GB of storage used. I can't figure out why Mail has that much storage on it, since my email folders are basically empty. I have only two accounts linked to the phone, a POP account (that is not synced), and a Gmail account. At first I thought it was the fact that Mail was storing all my SENT emails from my POP account, but i emptied that completely and the storage usage number didn't change. There is nothing in the Inbox, Drafts, Sent, or Trash folders. I cleaned everything out of my Gmail account as well.

Any ideas if this is correct, or how to free up some space on my phone, since 1.3 gigs is a lot to be taking up?

Thanks,

Mark

I have the same problem. I think that the kind of thing which is a part of the "other" stuff that appears on itunes when u still your storage management.

Me i have 3,5 Go of mails and pieces written in the storage information. The true, my mailboxes are empty and i don't know how to remove that space occupated by unkown files.

I had the ideas to use an app on the appstore called iclean, but it's not free and i'm scared it erases my games settings and my personnals sms for example. So if anyone has an idea that works for sure, it's very welcome.

I am also having the same problem. In iOS 6, my mail usage showing on the phone was insignificant, however I noticed the other week that since upgrading to iOS 7 recently, it is now 1.1GB, which is madness. I have two email accounts, one is IMAP and the other is a POP account and am loathe to delete the POP account as I would lose my emails. I tried deleting emails from sent and trash folders, but it made no difference. My husband only has an IMAP account and his is fine, so not sure if iOS 7 can't cope with POP accounts. Unfortunately that's not a solution, just a possible explanation, so a solution that would actually work would be great. My email is not synced to my mac and I've connected the phone to iTunes since first noticing the problem and it's made no difference.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I'm getting fed up with this now.
