I can't delete emails from my inbox on my iPad 4S

I would first recommend closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device. If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close. Test the results after processing this step.

If an app is unresponsive but the system seems to respond to button presses, you can force the app to close:

1. Double-click the Home button.
2. Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
3. Swipe the app up to close it.

I can't delete emails form my iPad, well I can but they come back. They will go into trash and I can delete them from there also but still they return ?? I find this is only an issue on Telstra big pond POP accounts. Any ideas?
