Having problems with the last apple tv update?

Yep same here; you're not alone; I got the restore screen, after the failed OTA update; and was confused; since I have no such cord with the Apple TV. Gotta purchase a micro USB cable tomorrow morning; and restore the box through iTunes. Failed update over the air from Apples servers I guess

This has happened to THREE of my 3rd Gen AppleTVs but not my one 2nd Gen. It's incredibly frustrating to have to completely re-setup each one. Can't believe Apple hasn't pulled this flawed update yet.

My ATV is buried within my entertainment unit and I can't tell you what a pain in the ___ it was to even reach it, no less disconnect it and hook up the micro-USB to my MacBook Air. The 'airhead' who let this so called "update" get onto the network should hopefully by now be looking for new employment. And, that goes for the QC/QA department knuckleheads who did not TEST the update first. I spent well more than $100 of my own time to fix a unit that only costs $100 !!!

I connected the ATV to the MAC it updated again and it still crapped out. Now all it does is blink, is there a hard reset to force it to be recognized by itunes?

My 2nd gen update worked fine too yesterday. From the looks of all the posts of problems, it may only be a issue with gen 3 ATVs (shame Apple can't get it right for their "current" product line).

Unfortunately I have the same problem... teaches me not to be one of the first few people to upgrade. I guess I won't be upgrading to the iphone 5s for a while.

In any case, last night I requested to update to see the new iRadio feature. This morning I came back and saw the dumb light blinking.

This is too bad... love the products until now, but this feels wrong that now I have to get a mini usb connection just for this.

C'mon Apple... get the things right! At least pull the plug on the upgrade, don't get millions of people upset.

All of my 720P units failed and are just blinking. 1080P units work fine. The latest update cannot be undone by iTunes connect as it is not recognised. I have tried multiple macs, and multiple connect methods. Thanks for wating my time. How do I claim warranty when the nearest apple store (not franchise) is 100klms away?

Same issue here as well. I applied it to my 2nd gen ATV and now it just blinks.

Totally Agreed, just wanted to mention that you need a micro-usb connector and not a mini-usb one....it would be salt in the wounds if you bought the wrong cable 🙂

Update, I connected to my iTunes and things were restored fine... it's more of annoyance and the extra unexpected $$ to buy a cable.

Read on the 9to5mac.com website that the update has been pulled by Apple.

connected my atv2 to itunes solved the problem. i have 3 micro cables for other gadgets, only one worked! so not all microcable are created equal! 🙂

Gen 3 ATV also has to be powered to do restore in Itunes. When it restores it is with correct new firmware. My gen 2 upgraded fine so one of the above posts may be spot on that it is only gen 3 with issue.
