Q: Airdrop is not working on my iPhone 5

I have exhausted everything for Airdrop to work to transfer files from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 5. I have set Airdrop settings to "Everyone" for both iPhone 5. Also tried to turn on Bluetooth and Wifi. I also have tried to close all apps running in the background and rebooted both phones. But somehow I couldn't get it to work to transfer photos from the Photos app. None of that is working no matter how hard I try to tap the Airdrop option on the Photos app. I don't know what else to do and I don't want to restore my phone.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

    Hello there, Teng14.

The following Knowledge Base article should provide some troubleshooting steps for you to try resolving your issue:

    iOS: Using AirDrop

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5887

    Troubleshooting AirDrop

Verify that your iOS device supports AirDrop and is using iOS 7:

    • Ensure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on.
    • When using Contacts Only, if you aren't able to locate a nearby user, ensure that both of you are signed into an iCloud account.
    • If you still can't locate a nearby user using Contacts Only, consider setting AirDrop to Everyone.

Note: AirDrop for iOS supports only iOS 7 devices. You cannot use AirDrop on iOS to share with OS X, and OS X users can't use AirDrop to share with iOS devices.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

    Cheers,

    Pedro D.

Same issue here. My wife's phone see my phone with Everyone selected but not contacts only.

"If you still can't locate a nearby user using Contacts Only, consider setting AirDrop to Everyone."

This option works, but it should work the other way without having to choose this option. I'd be interested in knowing what it is looking for in a contact to make this work so I can see if it is missing from what my wife has in her contact info for me.

I fixed mine by forgetting my bluetooth connection and my wifi connection.  Works now
