frames per second (fps) for gaming produces intermitten lag (even at lowest graphics)

I am currently using the lowest graphics settings for my rmbp 15''.

GPU: GT 650M 1gb

THe frame rate is absolutely terrible even on low profile games such as FIfa 13. Oddly enough, fifa 13 is smoother only mid-rendering. However, there will consistently be intermitten lags in some game that I had played so far. Fifa 13, Dragon Age: Origins.

I've read about issues regarding apple throttling the GPU n CPU settings (not sure true or not) and it affects the fps. Online solutions suggest either throttle stop or downloading an alternative version of the nvidia graphics card from LaptopVideo2Go but I'm not sure whether I'll want to try (since there's a chance it'll blow up the com)

Please advise =)

I'm running the same machine mate... I can't really get playable frame rates at native res ( 2880 x 1800 ) except maybe in civilization V.. I usually play FPS at 1280x800..

Make sure you're setup your power plan for high performance.. and install the latest drivers from nVidia

can't speak for fifa or DAO.. but never had any frame rate issues when playing on about 1280x800 with all the bling switched on..
